BCME Diary Of A Real Bride – Dana Hajjaj – The Proposal!
We’re super excited to introduce you to our brand new BCME Diary Of Real Bride Contributor, Dana Hajjaj. Each month, Dana will be giving you, our readers, access all areas into her personal journey of planning her dream wedding, and all the ups and downs that go with it!
Dana is getting married in July 2020, (location TBC – we can’t wait to find out where!) so each month she’ll be keeping us up to date on all her exciting wedding developments via her BCME Diary Of A Real Bride features. Along the way, Dana will also share her experiences and top tips for other brides to be, which we hope will ease some of the stress, and answer some of the questions you may be facing in the lead up to your own big day.
For the first installment of Dana’s diary, she talks us through her romantic proposal from her now fiancé Hassan.
Over to you, Dana!
The proposal happened after a long staycation with my parents in Ras Al Khaimah. I had come back to Abu Dhabi with the intention of having dinner with Hassan (my now fiancé) the very next day. He said he had chosen the place for dinner (which he usually doesn’t do!) but I never gave it much thought as I was filled with enthusiasm that he’d put this effort in. I went back home after a long day at work thinking to myself on the ride back “will he ever propose?” laughing it off thinking that it’s too soon since we only met in November 2018 and he is quite a shy guy. I wasn’t sure he had it in him.
My gut was telling me to dress up. So I picked my favorite red Karen Millen dress, paired with my Manolo Blahnik silhouettes and a sapphire diamond ring my Grandmother had given me. Hassan, on the other hand, was crisp as ever in a white Ralph Lauren shirt, blue loafers, and his Rolex watch. We pulled up to my favorite Italian restaurant in the capital, Café Milano in the Four Seasons, and had the most scrumptious meal. The vibes were just so good!
Towards the end of the evening, I let my hair down and wrapped a scarf around my shoulders; I’m a bit of a sleepy head and it was way past my bed time. Hassan by then had excused himself to go to the bathroom. By some miracle, without me noticing and whilst being filmed by the Café Milano staff, he came out with a big bouquet of flowers from Bliss; pink and white hues with all my favorite flowers including peonies and hydrangeas, but I still wasn’t surprised as he does send me flowers every now and again. He asked me to stand up, but with me being all sleepy, I didn’t get the hint. In a swift second, he pulled a ring box from the flower bouquet and went down on one knee.
With a cold rush down my spine, I saw everything in slow motion, as if it was a scene from a Hollywood movie. He opened the box to reveal a beautiful sparkly Boucheron band, asked me 4 questions that I cannot recall from being in plain shock, and then asked me if I’d do him the great honor of being his wife.
Amidst the tears, the hugs, the kisses, his gleaming eyes, and the claps from other people that were dining in the restaurant, I knew I was the luckiest girl in the world and replied back with a big fat YES!!!
