A Note From The Wedding Planner

Every woman, once she’s set her mind on something, knows exactly how it should be. A dream wedding is one of those things, because many women know and envision this day long before the proposal.
For us at Save The Date, a successful wedding comes about from knowing the bride and understanding her dream and vision for her big day from the moment we meet or talk. With Naj, the effect was immediate and we even nailed down the details during our initial calls while she was in London, where she lives. She used words like opulent, elegant and classy, and we soon knew exactly what kind of theme she wanted. When Naj came to Dubai, we didn’t waste a second in starting the planning process.
We often work on destination weddings with couples who are based abroad, and we plan the entire wedding remotely through phone calls, messages and emails. Couples can even choose their dream venue without being there physically. Fortunately for Naj, she came to Dubai nine months before her wedding day and we were able to take her to several venues; even so, I just knew she would choose Four Seasons Resort Dubai on Jumeirah Beach. This stunning hotel was the first place we went to, and I could see that it was ‘The Place’ for her and Alphonse, but we still took a tour and the couple spent some time deciding while exploring options.

No bride is the same. Some brides like to have boundaries and minimal contact with their wedding planner. With Naj, it was the opposite and I became the first and last person she would message during her day, to fine tune all the details to perfection. We were constantly in contact for every aspect of her wedding to make it as special as she imagined it would be.
After we finalised the venue at the Four Seasons, we had to design the wedding invitations. We create all of our graphic designs in-house at Save The Date and I always find this part of the wedding planning particularly exciting because it’s the very first impression and statement that couples make to their wedding guests.
We had an inspired idea of bringing the design of the hotel’s main door to the save the date cards and envelopes. When guests opened the card they would see it was laser cut to repeat the pattern of the hotel door. To get the quality we wanted for this (and for all our cards), we printed them abroad.

Naj and Alphonse wanted their wedding to be classy and timeless, and we ensured that this was the case for every element of the day. I love how the looks of the bride and groom came together to meet this theme, and I believe the wedding dress by Lazaro Bridal perfectly complemented the style and character of Naj, while Alphonse wore a refined black and white tuxedo. For the bridal hair and makeup, we found that artists from London would be the best fit, including Pauline Briscoe, a celebrity makeup artist whose portfolio includes Serena Williams and Vogue. The finished style for the bride and groom was wonderfully elegant and they looked beautifully harmonious next to each other.
The couple had their official ceremony in church, followed by a cocktail reception at the Four Seasons Resort Dubai, which transitioned into a dinner reception and then evening dancing with all their guests. I am immensely proud of this wedding and when I look back at their photos I am still inspired by their beautiful sunny day in April 2017; I hope you are inspired by their wedding, too.
