5 Reasons Why Lapland Is Perfect For Your Destination Wedding!
Are you dreaming of the perfect Winter wonderland wedding? Do your wedding Pinterest boards look like something from the Chronicles of Narnia? If so, then our BCME vendor and co-founder of Tesoro Events & Travel, Eva-Maria Buchacher-Asaad, may just have the ultimate wedding destination for you – LAPLAND! With their bespoke Wedding Atelier, Eva and her Tesoro co-founder husband Hazem, are passionate about helping couples fulfill their dreams of saying ‘I do’ in unique destinations all over the world. Here are Eva’s 5 Insta-worthy reasons (#pictureperfect) why Lapland should be at the very top of your destination wedding list!
1.#WinterWonderland
Lapland is not only Finland’s largest and northernmost region, a sparsely populated area bordering Sweden, Norway, Russia and the Baltic Sea, it’s what childhood dreams are made of. Expect a different kind of paradise, where you get to experience adventure and romance alike. Lapland is a real-life Winter wonderland, and most importantly it’s the home of Father Christmas. Yes, that’s right, THE Father Christmas! Hidden deep inside the arctic circle, it is the perfect location for your picturesque “all white” winter wedding surrounded by beautiful frozen lakes and snow-covered trees, all in blissful silence.
2.#UniqueVenues
From unique snow chapels to reindeer farms, log cabins and glass igloos, Lapland offers the very best when it comes to one-of-a-kind wedding venues and experiences. Imagine the exchange of your vows right in the heart of the arctic wilderness, set amidst a sea of candles, endless starry skies and Santa’s little helpers. Simply magical!
3.#Elopement
Is a traditional wedding just not quite your thing? Then having an ultra-romantic, Nordic winter wonderland elopement might be just right for you! Spend the daytimes husky sledding (#cutedogs) and the evenings chasing northern lights followed by a relaxing, traditional Finnish sauna. And to complete the perfect Finnish day, a glass of bubbly next to a roaring open fire place. Sounds heavenly doesn’t it? Then why not celebrate your love for each other in the most intimate way possible, surrounded by nothing but raw and untouched nature, thanks to Lapland.
4.#Entertainment
Without doubt, entertainment is an essential part of any wedding. When in Lapland, consider serenading your guests with traditional Sami music. Melodies so mystical and pure they are sure to add a truly rememberable and special touch to your ceremony.
5.#NorthernLights
There’s probably nothing better than having nature’s most spectacular light show, a celestial firework, at your wedding. In Finland, the aurora borealis, also referred to as polar lights or northern lights, is visible on roughly 150 – 200 nights a year. Legend has it that a Firefox (Revontulet – the Finnish word for the Northern Lights – translates as “fox fires”) runs along the fells with the fox’s flaming tail whipping crystals of snow into the sky and the fur scratching the trees, setting the skies on fire. It’s all about myths, legends and luck but with darker and less cloudy skies. March is generally a great time to go “northern lights spotting”. Just picture having your first dance in the moonlight accompanied by the enchanting northern lights. Amazing, right?
