When BCME Founder, Rio, came across this stunning real wedding on Instagram, we just knew we had to feature it! Today’s mesmerising Real Wedding comes from Khatia & Andrew. Khatia, who originates from Georgia but has been living in Russia for two years, married her Russian husband Andrew last August, high up in the mountains of enchanting Georgia.
Although a native Georgian, Khatia planned her whole wedding remotely from Russia. We were completely blown away by Khatia’s striking bridal (which we think steels the whole show!) and her spectacular mountain top wedding setting.
Georgia, located in the Caucasus Region boarding Turkey, Armenia and Russia, is only a three and a half hour flight away from Dubai, making it a popular spot for tourists and destination weddings alike.
We did face a slight language barrier when writing this feature as Khatia’s first language is not English, so we’re keeping it short and sweet. But as you can see, the images speak for themselves!
Enjoy! …
♡ Khatia, how did your husband propose?
Andrew proposed to me on my birthday…What a birthday present!
♡ Did you have a specific vision for your wedding?
I always knew that my wedding would be different; connected with nature, trees, out in the fresh air with lots of greenery. But the idea of having our wedding in the mountains came when I started to search for unusual places for a wedding celebration.
♡ How did you decide on a location for your wedding?
I’d always known about the Gergeti Church located in the mountains (at an altitude of 2170m). I wanted to get married there no matter what. Then I decided that the wedding reception would take place not far from this mountain.
♡ Tell us about the inspiration behind the theme of your wedding?
My whole inspiration for the wedding was naturalism; the colors in nature of the world, shades associated with woods and natural shades. That’s why I chose the reception for our guests to be in the forest of the Kazbegi Rooms Hotel. We enjoyed our reception surrounded by nature. The place was decorated with white flowers and greenery. After the reception we drove by car up the hill to the church of Gergeti.
♡ Where did you find your beautiful wedding gown and how was that experience?
My dress was a made to order custom gown by designer Marina Prokopenko, and my jewelry was handcrafted specifically for me by Wedding Diadema. My headpiece was also made to order by Mziko Kalandadze. My whole bridal look was created in my head first. I was so lucky to meet the amazing designers who embodied everything I had imagined with such beauty.
♡ What was the most challenging thing about planning your wedding?
The most difficult thing was to control the organization of the wedding from Russia. I arrived in Georgia 3 days before the wedding, but the all the wedding planning was done over the phone and online from Russia.
♡ For any Dubai Brides thinking of having their wedding in Georgia, what would be your top three tips?
♡ Be sure to hire a wedding planning and have them on stand by on the day itself to ensure you create the celebration of your dreams.
♡ Choose the best photographers who will capture your special day in your own unique style.
♡ Choose a place near the mountains. There is an incredible atmosphere and strength in the mountains.
♡ What was your favorite part of the whole day?
Most of all, I remember how we climbed to the highest point of the Gergeti Temple (2170m) and saw the whole city below us. It was very beautiful and moving.
♡ Anything/anyone you wish to add/credit?
I want to mention my photographer – Jane Iskra – The most talented photographer who took the most beautiful photos!
