March Madness Over, Come Forth Awesome April
Our real bride, Anna Lucas, has been incredibly busy venue hunting in St. Tropez recently. But was she successful, or is it time to have a rethink? We’re sure that her diary entry this month is something that all brides-to-be can relate to, especially how quickly Anna’s wedding seems to be creeping up on her! Let’s find out all about what Anna terms ‘March Madness’, below!
So, wedding check: 15 months and counting, which seems like a lifetime away, but in wedding time (which is a totally different time zone by the way) it’s FIVE measly minutes! Everything takes longer than expected so, of course, everything needs to be done immediately.
After spending a week on the slopes and having some downtime to think about the wedding, I then found myself jetting off to St. Tropez for a spot of venue shopping, feeling a little apprehensive to say the least.
I’ve also started stalking Instagram for super cool ideas on ‘something different’ in terms of decoration, favours, styles, themes and colours. There is SO much inspiration out there which will give your wedding that uniqueness that is required; it’s just a matter of pulling ideas from here, there and everywhere to make it your ideal day, check out Bride Club ME’s instagram page here.
So, St. Tropez…where do I start. I met my Mother, Father, Cousin, Aunt, Uncle and God knows who else down there, and was immediately whisked off to the local winery for a tasting session. I know, priorities right?!
Delicious wine was found and purchased (for further reviewing back a la maison), before we headed off to view some venues. The Church was beautiful, but unfortunately no ‘non-residents’ are allowed to marry there. We then went to a ‘venue’ that we created ourselves to be a venue. A beautiful, natural, outdoor amphitheater, perfect for the ceremonial aspect of the day. It was accompanied by stunning views and was definitely different. After a tough day, a BBQ and further wine tasting finished off day one. Days two, three, four, and five and so on went pretty much similarly. LOTS of wine tasting and, many a domaine, chateau, chapel and ballroom later…we still have no venue.
After a TGV from Nice to Paris and a flight back to Dubai, I’m now pondering over what’s next. To wed in St. Tropez or not to wed there; that is the question! To help me out, I came up with a three step plan to decide on what to do next:
Step 1 – Consult husband to be.
Step 2 – Skip step 1 and go straight to Step 2: Consult Mother of the Bride and Bridesmaids for their far more important and relative thoughts .
Step 3 – Stop stressing, rope them into helping scour the internet for a venue, and chilllllll. Oh, and delegate everything to them for the time being until Bride is no longer stressed and ready to help again.
Moving forward, despite there not being a venue, and with the prospect of potentially getting married on the streets of nowhere, I am going to start focusing on bridesmaids’ dresses and a colour theme. As mentioned earlier, I’ve recruited good old Instagram to inspire me and have found page upon page of options aligned with what I was thinking. So finding their dresses can be a fun easy thing to do for the next few weeks at least.
