This week we have the privilege of showcasing Rania Anklis, Founder and Owner of The Day Weddings & Events. Below, Rania provides us with an exclusive insight into her company, tells us all about why she works in this industry, and shares with us how The Day can help couples in the UAE plan their dream wedding.

How long has The Day Been established?

The Day Weddings & Events recently joined the market.  However, I personally have been in the industry for over eight years, which has helped me to build a solid base and experience.

What made you decide to work in the wedding and event planning industry?

I really love seeing my ideas turn into reality. This is why the wedding and event planning industry is perfect for me; it involves starting with a small idea and turning it into an event. Living the journey with the couple is one of the things that make me passionate about working in this industry.

What do you love most about your job?

Well, it’s a package that involves a number of things that I adore. This includes creating new ideas and building new themes, meeting new people and working so closely with them, and turning dreams into reality.

Do you have any exciting projects planned for the future?

The Day is always full of ideas and plans. Our short term plan is to expand in Dubai and Abu Dhabi and to consider RAK and Fujairah as ‘destination’ wedding locations for people living in and around Dubai. As for the long-term, we are working on turning the business into a wedding concierge.

Describe the experience a bride-to-be will have when hiring The Day for her wedding?

We will be making a journey and building memories, so this journey has to be enjoyable, memorable and stress-free. We will be there for her to support her emotionally and will share lots of tips and advice; from her make-up trial up to the blessing rehearsal. Our brides will also be treated with confidentiality.

What budgets do you cater for?

At the moment, we cater for all kinds of budgets. We believe that a good wedding planner can control the budget and help couples to save money, rather than spending it. We deal with a variety of suppliers, so we know where to allocate the money.

Do you have a favourite wedding ceremony and/or reception location in the UAE?

Dubai is well known for its tourism and therefore has lots of hotels and venues that cater to all kinds of budgets and tastes, from luxury ballrooms to outdoor venues. Part of my job is to recommend a venue where the team is very helpful and cooperative, which is essential for any event to be successful. Some of my favourite locations are Sofitel the Palm, Waldorf-Astoria,  St. Regis and Madinat Jumeirah.

If you could give one piece of advice to brides-to-be planning their wedding in the UAE, what would it be?

Hiring the right planner will save incredible amounts of time and an excessive load of stress. The planner will help to allocate the budget based on the couple’s preferences.  The professional experience that a planner can guarantee for the management of all sorts of different supplies will be the true added value for your dream wedding. Start planning for your big day as early as possible, and remember to enjoy the journey and try to include elements of your characters and personalities.
