Happy 2021 to you all! There’s no sugar-coating it, 2020 was a tumultuous year to say the least, and as we look forward to 365 blank pages of a brand new year, we hope you are looking ahead with optimism and vigour. Here, Rhiannon Downie-Hurst, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Bride Club ME, reflects on the highs and lows of the year that’s about to close and writes to you — our valued supporters, vendors and brides — with thanks and heartfelt wishes for a healthy, happy and prosperous 2021. Over to Rhiannon…
Hello Bride Clubbers, friends, clients and associates,
Wow, where do I start? What a year it has been! For many of us, it has been a year that has tested our emotions, mental wellbeing and patience to the limit. A year of hard lessons and losses. At the same time, it has also been a year where we have been able to reflect and assess the important things of what we want in life, who we love, and truly appreciate what really matters.
As the founder of Bride Club ME, I know firsthand that in 2020 many lovely brides and brides-to-be sadly had their wedding plans turned upside down and very likely experienced not just one but two postponements of their big day. For some couples, complete cancellation would have been the only heartbreaking option for them.
To the vendors of the wedding industry reading this, I empathise and understand how difficult this year has been, with everyone suffering losses in revenue and having to cope with the pressure and stress of trying to stay afloat, while also helping a myriad of confused and worried engaged couples. It is safe to say that this year, overall, has been one we all want to put behind us. I get it, I feel it and I am ready to move on.
So, move on we shall! Let us be thankful for what we do have, for our health, for our family, our friends, and for the new opportunities that have arisen during this year. Let us look forward to 2021 with cautious optimism and renewed hope.
Here at Bride Club ME, we may have slowed the pace a little but we did not go anywhere: in 2020 we set up a support group for brides and the industry alike, to help everyone navigate their way through the murky waters of confusion during lockdown; we organised virtual iftars and events for the wedding industry to help keep spirits up; we continued to support brides-to-be and vendors, despite wading in our own turbulent waters.
Sadly, in 2020 I saw some of my favourite wedding businesses close up shop; I witnessed many tears and I saw true heartache from those who I have not only had the pleasure of working with but from people who I now call friends.
However, amidst this gloom, I also saw business owners who were able to adapt and evolve by launching new divisions and bringing innovative ideas to life. Such businesses not just survived but they thrived in 2020, and this has been heartwarming to witness. It has been a rollercoaster of a year, to say the least.
Bride Club ME and all our services are still very much in action and we would be delighted to assist you with all your wedding inquiries and needs as we enter a new year. Brides and grooms, you can email us here or WhatsApp 05858BRIDE for FREE concierge assistance and venue/vendor matchmaking.
For vendors and those associated with venues, for a copy of our 2021 media kit and to inquire about listing your venue or services on our website, please email rhiannon@brideclubme.com for more information.
I would personally like to thank all of our vendors who continued to support our platform in 2020, and we shall continue to offer our support of your marketing and communications with brides and engaged couples throughout the year ahead.
From myself and our little team here at www.brideclubme.com, here’s wishing you all a healthy and prosperous 2021. Brides, we wish you a beautiful and memorable wedding no matter how large and grand or small and intimate it is. Happy planning!
With warmest wishes,
Rhiannon Downie-Hurst – Founder of www.brideclubme.com.
