Review: Hen party pampering & Afternoon Tea
A few months ago, I hooked up with my girl Rania over at the Blush Diaries to collaborate on a shoot/review. The concept? To try out the bridal party pampering services of Jumeirah based Be Bar Blow Dry Bar, followed by a girlie afternoon tea at the pretty Hamptons café, situated a mere few steps away from the salon. I often get emails from bridesmaids and Maids of Honour who are looking for ideas when planning their friend’s hen/bachelorette party, and I usually refer them to this feature, but now and then we try out the services of other local vendors and give feedback to our lovely readers.
Hen Party Pampering at Be Bar Blow Dry Bar
Be Bar Blow Dry Bar have been listed vendors on Bride Club ME for a while. I fell in love with the concept the moment I met the company’s founders Lindsey & Andrea via my good friend Sunny over at Sunny’s Pop.
Location:
The blow dry bar is located along the prestigious Jumeirah Beach Road, close to the sunset mall. It’s neatly tucked away, but you can’t miss that beautiful turquoise door!
The experience:
As soon as you enter the blow bar, you are hit with super stylish branding and colour schemes. These ladies really know how to create an inviting space. From start to finish Rania and I were truly pampered and treated like VIPs. The salon, decorated throughout in the signature colours of white and turquoise, is gorgeous, with plenty of natural light and contemporary interiors. There are round stations with mirrors where clients are seated during their blow dries. Rania and I were seated at our station and presented with an iPad filled to the brim with inspirational images of various hairstyles. We both opted for a glamorous Hollywood-esque look, as it seemed fitting considering we were heading off for afternoon tea afterwards.
After a thorough wash using modern state of the art ‘lie down’ hair washing basins, Rania and I were presented with sparkly non-alcoholic bubbly and chose from an array of teas and coffees. We both have a sweet tooth, which were well catered for with yummy Sunny’s Pop popcorn and juicy jelly beans.
Be Bar Blow Dry Bar work with make-up artists when their clients require such services, and Rania and I had the pleasure of being made over by the gorgeous Hayley Di Rito, a stunning blonde bombshell who looks like she has walked straight off the set of a 50’s Hollywood flick. Keeping to our brief of wanting a glam, Hollywood look, Hayley took us from drab to fab with her make-up skills.
The package/cost:
The cost for bridal party pampering packages are completely custom made according to your needs, the number of ladies, etc. You can make regular bookings, or, if you are looking for something more exclusive, the salon can be privately booked out for your party. Afternoon Tea at Hamptons
Once Rania and I were fully glammed up and rocking our 50’s look, we took a few short steps next door and headed to our afternoon tea treat at the pretty Hamptons Café.
We were led upstairs to our table on the roof top. The Hamptons’ interiors are a mix of seaside blue and beige tones, and the venue has a real Palm Beach café vibe, with sporadic ocean inspired items featuring throughout. Outside you will be welcomed by vintage picnic basket bicycles and quite often a classic car or two. My overall feeling is that the Hamptons Café is a busy jaunt, and this can affect the quality of service.
Our waiter was lovely, but it took a while to get settled in and ordering. We had already agreed on the ‘Hamptons High Tea’ option, which is a perfect choice for a group of hens wanting a sophisticated afternoon in the lead up to a wedding. We really loved the way that the traditional menu was displayed in a high tech, modern way, as we selected our tea preferences on an iPad. I chose the English Breakfast tea option, which hit the spot. Well, I am British after all, and we LOVE our tea! The Hamptons Afternoon Tea menu includes a fresh selection of finger sandwiches, generously filled mini croissants, scones, cream and jam, miniature cakes and macarons. The macarons were my favourite and are to die for, made fresh in-house.
The presentation of our food was super pretty and oh so Instagram worthy! With the natural ‘golden hour’ sunlight streaming through the airy glass rooftop and windows, our photographer Nabeela Huda managed to capture some real beauties.
The cost: Afternoon tea for two at the Hamptons café, Jumeirah, costs from 129 AED per person. For bookings, call +971 4 331 5118 or visit www.hamptonsdubai.com for more details.
In Short:
If you are a tea loving bride-to-be who fancies some pampering in stylish surroundings, then I highly recommend making a day of it and booking in with your girls for a make-over at Be Bar followed by a delectable afternoon tea at the neighbouring Hamptons. It’s a great opportunity to catch up discuss all things wedding related too! :)
Many thanks to Nabeela Huda for the gorgeous pictures! Looking for more of our wedding related reviews? Click here.
