Valentine’s Day, Wedding Anniversaries, Birthdays, honeymoons – do we need a reason to celebrate and spend time with the one we love? With the month of love around the corner, and a fresh new year just started, it’s the perfect opportunity to plan and find your next romantic destination.
With years of expert knowledge and experience, we are delighted to bring you our first article from our new panel member and romantic travel expert Tanya Robinson. Enjoy!
Paris
Let’s face it; no list would be complete without The City of Lights (and love), so let us begin our journey in Paris!
Although Paris has favourable year-round conditions, Summer and Spring (March through August) are the best times to visit.
Spend time at love Lock Bridge, stroll through the streets of Paris, stop, and enjoy a picnic in one of the many beautiful parks. Visit the local markets, eat the pastries, and sample the macarons. Rent a boat, hire a bicycle, breathe, and soak in all this romantic city offers.
I recently met with the team from Le Bristol Paris, who are offering some fantastic value adds for their Valentine’s Day visitors, from guaranteed upgrades to chocolate and champagne. Paris is a must visit, at least once in your lifetime.
Seychelles
Seychelles holds the title of the most romantic destination in the world, and it isn’t hard to see why.
If you’re looking for secluded beaches, idyllic resorts, unspoilt natural beauty, private islands, and crystal-clear aqua-blue waters, then Seychelles must be your first choice.
Famous for hosting the Prince and Princess of Wales for their honeymoon, North Island features just 11 spacious villas offering each guest an unparalleled sense of exclusivity and luxury. An authentic bare-foot luxury experience!
Don’t be mistaken into thinking Seychelles cannot be visited on a budget; if you’re dreaming of this enchanted island, I recommend booking in advance to take advantage of special offers and lower prices.
South Africa
“The only man I envy is the man who has not yet been to Africa – for he has so much to look forward to.” Mullin.
The Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve in South Africa offers unrivalled Big Five game viewing with some of the best service and attention to detail I have ever seen. Add something unique to your stay and spend a night in one of 3 Luxury Treehouses at Lion Sands Safari lodges. Sleeping under the stars in complete privacy while listening to the sounds of the bush is an unparalleled experience (and perhaps not something for the faint-hearted).
Combine your safari with a stay in one of the most beautiful cities in the Southern Hemisphere – Cape Town. Certain places are tailor-made for romance. Tintswalo Atlantic is one of those destinations. Perched on a pebbled beach overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, you can spend long, lazy mornings listening to the waves roll in at the base of your suite.
Snorkel with Seals in Hout Bay, take a Sunset drive on Chapman’s Peak, or Horse ride along Long Beach.
South Africa is known for its exceptional service, warm hospitality, first-class wines, and exquisite gourmet cuisine and is one of my top destinations for romantic travel.
Vietnam
Heading East and looking for something a little more cultural – Cascading rice pads, lakeside glamping, island retreats, Vespas, and Mekong Delta Homestays? Known for its beautiful beaches, fantastic food, and friendly people, Vietnam is one of my all-time favourite destinations.
Whisk your partner away on a cruise through Ha Long Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site famous for its limestone mountains and emerald waters.
Walk hand in hand through the Ancient Town of Hoi An as you wander through the old streets, wooden shophouses, Buddhist pagodas, and Chinese temples. Spend time along the Riverside, once a prominent stop for foreign traders, and remember to stop and take on the beauty of the Japanese Covered Bridge.
Experience the best of Ho Chi Minh City, explore the food scene, and expand your palate while taking in the vibrant street markets and nightlife from the back of a local Vespa. Try various restaurants and visit small hidden secret gardens and jazz cafés.
The best time to visit Vietnam is from March to April.
So there you have it, 5 gorgeous travel destinations that make for an idylic romantic getway. Stay tuned for more travel features and updates and do let us know you thoughts on the destinations mentioned above in the comments below. Happy travels!
