While we are in the business of promoting weddings from small and intimate, to large and lavish, we also understand why many couples decide to keep things simple and hassle free, by eloping. For those of you who may be considering eloping in 2020/21, we have highlighted five top reasons to, including some useful elopement tips from BCME vendor Tesoro Travel & Events.
1: Quality over quantity
With less expenditure, many elopement couples may be able to splurge on the few things they will be needing, for example, your dream wedding gown, your favourite wedding photographer, and a honeymoon of a lifetime.
2: Saving those dirhams
Eloping will save you thousands of dirhams, that could be used towards saving for your first home together, starting a business, a family and so much more.
3: Reducing stress
For the most, planning a wedding can be stressful. Eloping eliminates much of the stress that comes along with organising a wedding.
4: It’s all about YOU
Weddings should be about you as a couple, however, with an elopement, there is no need to worry about fitting into everyone else’s calendar, accommodating 100 different food requests, worrying about the seating plan and much more. With eloping you can forget all of that and concentrate on looking forward to being married.
5: Dream Location
With lots of money saved, you may be able to afford to wed in your dream location and honeymoon there too. Always wanted to marry on the black beaches of Iceland? Now you can do it and have an amazing vacation while you are at it.
Rhiannon Downie-Hurst of Brideclubme.com says; “Use local wedding websites to find venues and local suppliers to assist with your elopement. Many local wedding blogs and websites also allow for client reviews, so you can view the experiences of other couples”.
Tips From The Expert
Travel and events specialist Eva-Maria Asaad, Co-Founder of Tesoro Events & Travel offers her top tips below:
Invest in a brilliant Photographer/Videographer
Let’s get one thing straight: Elopements are just as, if not even more, magical than “regular” weddings. Investing in a great photographer and/or videographer will help you caption this intimate experience forever.
Focus on unique details
An elopement can be as elaborate or simple as you’d like it to be. We do, however, recommend you focus on a few but (to you) important details to make it truly unique and memorable. This might mean investing in a truly stunning jumpsuit and not the traditional dress everyone “expects” you to wear (remember: you always want to feel comfortable and fabulous on your wedding day!), that gorgeous pair of shoes you’ve had your eyes on for the last few years, a bouquet of your all-time favorite flowers or a bottle of the 1982 Château Latour you’ve always wanted to enjoy with your candlelight dinner.
And Now For The Reason Not To Elope
Eloping isn’t for everyone, if you are a people person, have a large and close family and can afford to and want to have a bigger wedding, do it! Eloping does seem like the fun and trendy thing to do these days, many of us get bouts of wanting to run off an elope in the midst of planning, but only do it if you know it’s for the both of you and that you will not regret it in the long run.
What ever you decide, we hope you have a day to remember x
