In the words of The Big Proposals team…
Proposals in Dubai are often planned in front of iconic locations and landmarks, such as the Burj Al Arab, Burj Khalifa, Atlantis, or amongst the sand dunes of the desert.
…and we cater to these all the time. With this shoot, we wanted to show that Dubai is also home to many hidden gems, suited to all sorts of tastes and styles such as this private veranda that we personally fell in love with, set amongst the fields of the Melia Desert Palm. It’s the perfect spot for the nature-loving gentlemen who want a completely private proposal, whilst also appealing to the ladies who love horses, being closely located to the Melia Desert Palm’s stables.
The venue provided the perfect blank canvas space for us to elegantly transform it into a romantic dinner set up for two. Wanting to strike a balance between ‘classic’ and ‘modern’, we combined romantic ambient floor candles, flowing table linens, pretty tableware and stunning blooms with strikingly vibrant, hot pink neon signage that read ‘Marry Me’, suspended above the table setting.
Our models for the shoot added an extra dreamy flair being that they were a real-life couple and gorgeous too! It was really important for us to provide an idea that our couples could really relate to, we were adamant not to use professional models and wanted the shoot to portray a couple genuinely in love. We think our models did amazingly well and hope to be planning their own proposal one day, hehe – No pressure Taz!
Hair and make-up were executed by BCME vendors My Be Bar, who created a soft glam makeup look for both our main model and our violinist by constructing tousled Hollywoodesque waves for the ‘bride to be’ and a sleeker updo for our violinist. Our main model’s green satin dress perfectly complimented the setup and came courtesy of online dress rental company Themode.ae. The classical violinist, who we work closely with for many of our proposals, added extra enchantment, helping to create a simple, yet stunningly beautiful proposal for a couple in love.
So, there we are ladies, we are sure you will all agree that this is one gorgeous dream-come-true shoot! How did your fiancés propose? We would love to hear all your stories, the good and the bad. Share them with us in the comments below.
