From majestic fort architecture and spectacular wedding celebrations to immersive Rajasthani experiences and some of the most thoughtful hospitality I’ve encountered, Bride Club ME discovers the magic of Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur.
There’s something undeniably magical about Rajasthan. The colours, the culture, the magnificent architecture and the warmth of its people make it a destination that feels almost purpose-built for celebrations. And when it comes to luxury destination weddings near Jaipur, few settings are quite as extraordinary as Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur.
Ahead of the DWP Congress in Udaipur, I had the pleasure of joining 31 fellow wedding planners and industry professionals from around the world for an immersive familiarisation (FAM) trip to this spectacular property, courtesy of the DWP team.
Our mission? To experience first-hand what makes this historic fort, and Rajasthan more broadly, such an exciting destination for luxury weddings and events.
What followed was a wonderful few days of discovery, beautifully curated celebrations, cultural experiences, meaningful industry connections and some truly exceptional hospitality.
Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur: Where Heritage Meets Luxury
Perched dramatically above the Rajasthani landscape, Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur is far more than a luxury hotel. Located in Bishangarh, approximately 90 minutes from Jaipur, this beautifully restored historic fort combines centuries-old architecture with contemporary luxury.
Rising above the surrounding village and Aravalli Hills, the property offers an extraordinary sense of arrival. Its imposing stone walls, elegant interiors, atmospheric courtyards and sweeping views create a setting that feels wonderfully removed from everyday life.
With 87 rooms and suites, the hotel offers an intimate atmosphere that is particularly appealing for couples looking to create a destination wedding experience where their guests can truly connect.
What struck me most was how thoughtfully the property’s heritage has been preserved. Rather than feeling like a conventional luxury hotel, Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur has a genuine sense of place. And for couples dreaming of a luxury destination wedding in Rajasthan, that authenticity is a huge part of its appeal.
A Spectacular Setting for Destination Weddings and Events
One of the highlights of our visit was discovering the property’s potential for weddings, private celebrations and thoughtfully curated events. From the expansive Aravalli Lawn to the atmospheric Haveli Terrace, Baori and other beautiful outdoor spaces, the property offers a variety of settings for different elements of a wedding celebration.
Imagine a colourful mehndi surrounded by vibrant Rajasthani-inspired décor, an intimate welcome dinner beneath the stars, or a romantic ceremony with the historic fort providing a breathtaking backdrop. For couples planning multi-day Indian weddings, the opportunity to create several distinct experiences within one destination is particularly exciting.
The property also lends itself beautifully to smaller, more intimate celebrations, milestone occasions and exclusive gatherings where privacy, atmosphere and guest experience are a priority.
Of course, the magic of a destination wedding extends far beyond the ceremony itself. It’s about the entire journey and everything guests experience along the way, and this is where our FAM trip truly came to life.
A Vision for Destination Weddings at Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur
For the team at Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur, welcoming 31 wedding planners and industry professionals from across the globe was an opportunity to showcase not only the property’s extraordinary setting, but also its potential as a destination for unforgettable wedding celebrations.
We invited Digvijay Singh, Director of Sales and Marketing, to share his vision for the property and its place within the international destination wedding market.
It was a pleasure to welcome wedding planners from around the world and share Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur with them first-hand. The lovingly restored fort, Aravalli landscape and warmth of Rajasthani hospitality give the property a strong sense of place. For couples from the UAE and further afield, our vision is to create celebrations that feel personal and rooted in Rajasthan, with distinct settings and cultural experiences for family and friends to enjoy across several days.

With its combination of heritage architecture, intimate luxury, versatile event spaces and deeply personalised hospitality, the property certainly offers plenty of inspiration for couples and wedding professionals seeking something beyond the traditional wedding venue.

A Farm-to-Table Welcome Lunch, Beautifully Styled by Discovery Events
Our introduction to Rajasthan’s hospitality included a beautifully curated farm-to-table welcome lunch, held in the hotel’s gardens beside its vegetable patch. Surrounded by greenery and the natural beauty of the grounds, we enjoyed an experience that celebrated local ingredients, traditional cooking techniques and thoughtful event design.
The setting was beautifully styled by Discovery Events, who transformed the outdoor space into an inviting dining experience that felt both relaxed and effortlessly elegant. One of the most fascinating elements was witnessing traditional underground cooking methods, with meat and rice prepared using techniques passed down through generations.
It was a wonderful reminder that food can be so much more than a meal. When thoughtfully incorporated into an event, it becomes part of the entertainment, storytelling and cultural experience.
For destination wedding planners, experiences like this demonstrate how local traditions can be woven into welcome lunches, rehearsal celebrations and wedding festivities in ways that feel authentic and memorable.
Behind the Experience: A Word from Discovery Events
Yash Gandhi, Partner at Discovery Events, shared the inspiration behind the welcome lunch and the importance of incorporating local culture into destination wedding experiences.
For a group of planners who produce some of the world’s finest events, we looked beyond the fort walls to the village of Bishangarh: raw, organic and full of life. We wanted the first moment to feel like the fort was opening its doors to guests with the warmth of a Rajasthani home.
Safas were tied on arrival, and guests sat beneath thatched huts built by villagers from within five kilometres, with fresh produce woven into the styling and hay bales stacked into a bar. We didn’t decorate the village. We invited it in.
For our couples, especially those coming from abroad, a destination wedding in Rajasthan should feel rooted in the place, not imported into it. Alila Fort Bishangarh gives us a rare canvas for that: a fort with real history, surrounded by a living village and open landscape. You can move from a royal courtyard to a farm table in a single day, and every setting tells a different part of the same story.

Sundowners at the Spa Lawn and Dinner at Nazaara
Our first evening at Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur set the tone beautifully for the experiences that lay ahead. We began with pre-dinner cocktails and sundowners on the Spa Lawn, watching the sun slowly disappear behind the magnificent Aravalli Hills.
It was a wonderfully relaxed introduction to the property and a lovely opportunity to connect with fellow wedding planners from around the world. As darkness fell, we made our way to Nazaara, where an atmospheric dining experience awaited.
With sandpit fires, traditional Rajput hunter cuisine and the dramatic Aravalli landscape as our backdrop, the evening was a wonderful introduction to Rajasthan’s rich culinary heritage.
There was something incredibly special about dining in such a setting, surrounded by the natural beauty of the landscape as the Aravalli Hills disappeared into the night.
For couples planning a destination wedding in Rajasthan, it’s easy to imagine a similar experience as an intimate welcome dinner or pre-wedding gathering, allowing guests to settle into their surroundings while enjoying something distinctly local.
The Forgotten Trail: An Off-Road Adventure
One of the most memorable experiences of our stay was The Forgotten Trail, an adventurous off-road excursion that took us beyond the fort and into the rugged Rajasthani landscape. Travelling in classic jeeps, we navigated rocky terrain and dry riverbeds, making our way through the surrounding countryside towards a panoramic viewpoint overlooking the magnificent fort. And what better way to end the adventure than with hot chai and snacks as the sun began to set?
It was an exhilarating way to discover another side of Rajasthan, with spectacular scenery and plenty of opportunities to appreciate the natural beauty surrounding Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur.
For international wedding guests, experiences like The Forgotten Trail add another dimension to a destination wedding itinerary. Rather than simply attending the wedding celebrations, guests can explore the destination, enjoy a little adventure and create memories of their own.
It’s exactly the sort of activity that could work beautifully as part of a pre-wedding programme or an optional excursion for guests enjoying an extended stay.
A Traditional Village Breakfast: A Taste of Local Life
One of the loveliest aspects of our FAM trip was the opportunity to experience the region’s culture through its people and food. Our traditional village breakfast offered a wonderful change of pace, introducing us to local hospitality and the simple pleasures of authentic Rajasthani cuisine. These are the moments that often stay with you long after a trip has ended.
For couples planning a destination wedding, incorporating experiences like a village breakfast can provide visiting friends and family with a deeper connection to the location, particularly when guests are travelling from different parts of the world.
Discovering Jaipur: Palaces, Heritage and Johari Bazaar
No visit to Rajasthan would be complete without exploring Jaipur, and our city tour offered a wonderful introduction to the history, architecture and vibrant culture of the Pink City.
Our itinerary took us on an end-to-end journey through some of Jaipur’s most celebrated landmarks, including the magnificent Amber Fort, Jal Mahal, Hawa Mahal and City Palace, before exploring the bustling lanes of Johari Bazaar.
From the grandeur of Amber Fort to the intricate architecture of Hawa Mahal, each stop offered a glimpse into the region’s royal heritage and extraordinary craftsmanship.
Johari Bazaar was another highlight, with its colourful shops, beautiful fabrics, jewellery, traditional textiles and local artisans. Several of us also took the opportunity to have custom-made sarees and outfits created ahead of the DWP Congress in Udaipur, making the shopping experience even more special.
There was something rather lovely about choosing fabrics and designs locally, knowing we’d be wearing pieces created in Rajasthan for one of the wedding industry’s international gatherings.
For couples hosting a destination wedding near Jaipur, a curated city tour could be a fantastic addition to the guest itinerary, particularly for friends and family visiting India for the first time. And for those who love shopping, the opportunity to discover local boutiques, jewellery and traditional Indian attire is certainly a bonus!
Sunset High Tea and a Local Market at Haveli Terrace
One of our more relaxed experiences took place at Haveli Terrace, where we enjoyed a beautiful high tea accompanied by a charming local market experience. With sweeping sunset views across the surrounding landscape, the terrace provided a stunning setting to unwind, enjoy refreshments and discover more of Rajasthan’s traditional craftsmanship.
Local artisans and market-style displays brought an authentic cultural element to the afternoon, creating an experience that felt both intimate and engaging. It was also a lovely reminder of how beautifully local traditions can be incorporated into wedding celebrations.
Imagine hosting a relaxed afternoon gathering for wedding guests, complete with traditional refreshments, artisan demonstrations, local crafts and beautiful sunset views.
Experiences like these allow couples to share a little of the destination’s character with their loved ones while creating opportunities for guests to mingle and connect.
A Spectacular Evening at Baori: Discovery Events and Sumant Jayakrishnan Design
And then there was the evening that felt like stepping straight into a magical wonderland! One of the standout celebrations of our stay took place at Baori, where we enjoyed an extraordinary evening beneath the stars, framed by the magnificent Aravalli Hills.
Produced by Discovery Events, with creative design by Sumant Jayakrishnan Design, the event was a spectacular showcase of how thoughtful design, lighting and production can completely transform a space.
From the dramatic installations and beautifully considered lighting to the soulful Sufi music drifting through the evening air, every detail worked together to create an almost otherworldly atmosphere.
The setting was breathtaking. Beautifully illuminated fort walls, glowing candles, striking installations and carefully curated décor created a wonderful sense of theatre, while the surrounding landscape added its own natural drama. It was one of those moments where you couldn’t help but stop, look around and take it all in.
For the wedding planners in attendance, it was also a brilliant example of what can be achieved when a remarkable heritage venue is brought to life by talented creative professionals.
Behind the Design: Yash Gandhi on Bringing Baori to Life
We invited Yash Gandhi from Discovery Events to share the creative vision behind this extraordinary evening and how the team worked alongside Sumant Jayakrishnan Design to bring the experience to life.
Like every experience we designed at Bishangarh, the Baori evening was envisioned as a spectacular heritage show with global finesse.
Working with Sumant Jayakrishnan Design, we were in awe of his vision and how it came to life. Goddess figures welcomed our planners, Kamdhenu, the sacred wish-fulfilling cow, stood as a centrepiece, and lotus leaves ran through the décor. Nimbu-mirchi hangings, the traditional charm for good fortune, were reimagined as art, and a shimmering silver dance floor gave the evening its glaze.
Light washed across the fort walls, candles glowed through the space, and Rajasthan Roots brought the music of the land to life. Every element, from the installations to the landscape, told the same story. Rajasthan’s traditions were never a backdrop that night; they were the show.
— Yash Gandhi, Partner, Discovery Events
For couples considering a luxury destination wedding in Rajasthan, evenings like this demonstrate just how magical a welcome dinner, sangeet or pre-wedding celebration can be.
It’s not simply about creating a beautiful setting. It’s about creating an atmosphere, telling a story and giving guests an experience they’ll remember long after the celebrations have ended.
And when you combine a venue as distinctive as Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur with talented creative teams who understand how to bring a vision to life, the possibilities are incredibly exciting.
Beyond Five-Star Service: The Exceptional Hospitality at Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur
While the breathtaking architecture, beautiful surroundings and thoughtfully curated experiences were certainly memorable, one of the things that left the biggest impression on me personally was the exceptional hospitality at Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur.
I’ve been fortunate enough to experience some incredible hotels over the years, but it’s often the smallest gestures that make the biggest difference. And the team at Alila truly went above and beyond.
The staff remembered my personal preferences, anticipated my needs and made me feel genuinely cared for throughout my stay. One particularly thoughtful moment was when I hadn’t finished my pot of tea downstairs, and the team arranged for it to be sent up to my room without me even asking. Such a simple gesture, but one that spoke volumes about their attention to detail.
They even offered complimentary cleaning and drying of my clothes, which was incredibly thoughtful, particularly during a busy itinerary. And then there were the lovely little surprises waiting in my room each day! From essential oils and lip balm to beautiful handmade beach bags and other thoughtful gifts, there was always something new to discover.
It wasn’t necessarily about the gifts themselves, but the feeling that someone had genuinely taken the time to make my stay special. For me, this is what true luxury hospitality is all about. It’s not just beautiful surroundings or impressive facilities. It’s about how a place makes you feel, and when it comes to destination weddings, that level of care is invaluable.
Couples are trusting a venue with one of the most important celebrations of their lives, often bringing friends and family from across the world. Knowing that their guests will be looked after with such warmth, thoughtfulness and attention to detail makes all the difference.
Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur certainly delivered on that front, and it’s something I won’t forget in a hurry.
Why Jaipur Deserves a Place on Your Destination Wedding Radar
Having experienced Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur and the surrounding destination first-hand, it’s easy to understand why Rajasthan continues to attract couples from across the globe.
For UAE-based couples considering a destination wedding in India, Jaipur offers a compelling combination of cultural richness, spectacular venues and experienced wedding professionals. But perhaps its greatest strength is the opportunity to create a celebration that feels genuinely immersive. A wedding here can be so much more than a single event.
It can be several days of discovery, beautifully curated celebrations, exceptional food, meaningful cultural experiences and memories shared with the people who matter most.
From off-road adventures and palace visits to intimate dinners beneath the stars and spectacular wedding productions, there are countless ways to make the experience feel personal and unforgettable, and for wedding planners and media, FAM trips such as this are invaluable.
They allow us to move beyond brochures and beautiful imagery, understand a property’s capabilities and experience the destination as guests would.
Final Thoughts: A Destination That Leaves a Lasting Impression
For me, Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur wasn’t simply about discovering another beautiful wedding venue. It was about experiencing a property where heritage, creativity, culture and genuinely exceptional hospitality come together.
From the beautifully styled celebrations and immersive Rajasthani experiences to the warmth and attentiveness of the hotel team, every element of our visit offered fresh inspiration.
It was also a fantastic opportunity to connect with wedding professionals from around the world, exchange ideas and discover the incredible creativity that exists within Rajasthan’s wedding industry.
A heartfelt thank you to Alila Fort Bishangarh, Jaipur, the DWP team, Discovery Events, Sumant Jayakrishnan Design and everyone involved in bringing this wonderful experience together.
And while the grand celebrations and spectacular settings were unforgettable, it was often the smallest, most thoughtful gestures that left the biggest impression. That, to me, is the true magic of Alila.
