In the tranquil setting of Anantara The Palm Dubai Resort, with the peaceful Arabian Sea as their backdrop, British expatriates and the founders of Lets DXB, Adrian and Lucy John, also known as Mr. & Mrs. Brunch for their role in revolutionizing the UAE’s brunch scene, celebrated their wedding. Their ceremony, reflecting their unique personalities, was a distinctive affair that perfectly complemented the serene environment. Opting for an intimate beach setting, their Dubai wedding effortlessly combined elements of boho chic with subtle champagne sparkles, showcasing a sophisticated yet laid-back vibe that felt entirely their own.
Bride Club ME is excited to give you a glimpse into their special celebration, where personal style and the beauty of Dubai came together in perfect harmony. Join us as we explore the thoughtful touches and creative decisions that made this wedding a memorable celebration of love.
How did he pop the big Q?
In one of our happy places… Ibiza Adrian whisked me away to a breathtaking beachside restaurant to witness one of Ibiza’s world-famous sunsets. Little did I realize, as he prompted me to frame the sunset in a heart-shaped picture, that I would turn around to find him on one knee! The entire three-story restaurant erupted in cheers and applause!! A truly surreal, pinch-me moment!
Tell us about the venue, why did you choose to marry in Dubai and which venue did you say “Yes” to?
We decided to get married in Dubai, where we met and built our life together. Our chosen venue, Anantara, resembles Thailand, a special place for us as a couple. It was the perfect touch of Thailand in Dubai.
Did you DIY/Plan the wedding yourself or enlist the help of a wedding planner?
We enjoyed planning the wedding together and loved a lot of DIY tasks such as designing the stationary, the welcome signs and table plans, but due to our busy schedule, we sought guidance from Liesel, the owner of Rock Your Event. She was fantastic and understood our vision perfectly.
Let’s talk the look! Where and how did you say yes to the dress?
I found my dream dress at the Vanila Bridal boutique in JLT. The staff were amazing and picked the perfect dress for me! It combined sparkle, princess, and boho vibes beautifully. It was a Dolvita gown with a detachable train for an elegant evening look later.
Let’s talk décor! Can you share with us the story behind your wedding theme and inspiration?
Our theme embraced Champagne sparkles and boho natural vibes. Dried flowers, white roses, and pampas grass adorned the aisle and adorned our wedding arch. The reception venue dazzled with dried flowers, pampas grass, and a ceiling lit up with delicate fairy lights for a touch of sparkle!
Let’s talk food! You and your husband are big foodies! What role did good food play in your wedding and talk us through your catering for the day.
Oh yes! We were thrilled about the food, as Thai cuisine is one of our favourites as well! Opting for a buffet, we thoroughly enjoyed our tasting session, carefully selecting each dish to be included on the day, ensuring there was something for everyone.
What aspects of the wedding planning did you find most stressful and most enjoyable and if you could do anything differently, what would it be?
We enjoyed every moment of the process, from venue visits to food tastings, finding the dream dress, and Adrian designing his own suit. The only challenge was managing the guest list within the venue’s capacity, considering our large families in the UK and those close to us here. However, everything fell into place beautifully. Planning gradually and giving ourselves time made all the difference, allowing us to savour each step along the way.
Any standout moments that will forever stick in your mind from your special day?
The heavens opened just as I stepped out of the hotel room. It poured with rain until I reached the top of the aisle, then completely stopped. The sun shone through the clouds as the song to walk down the aisle was sung! We could not believe it; it was such a beautiful moment!
Lastly, what top three tips would you give to other couples planning their wedding in the UAE?
- If you can, give yourself time to plan. Enlist a wedding planner especially for “on the day planning” so you can really enjoy every second of the experience.
- Make it personal to you, the little things really matter.
- Embrace the anticipation and cherish this moment—it’s a time to be treasured, creating memories that will always bring a smile to your face.
