Bride Club ME’s Guide to 10 Honeymoon Essentials
The wedding madness is over and now it’s your time to jet off as a ‘Husband and Wife’. Bride Club ME has put together our list of 10 essentials not to forget as you head for honeymoon holiday bliss.
♡ Travel documents. All kinds of things get forgotten in the run-up to a wedding, and yes, this includes the all essential travel documents too. It is important to ensure that all of your travel documents are ready and organised. Check that your passport expiry date still has over six months left; and do it early enough to apply for a new one if necessary. Carry along traveller’s cheques, emergency contact information, and hotel booking receipts/reference numbers. Forgetting any of these “must have” items could make your romantic honeymoon a stressful one.
♡ Local currency Money and ID. Credit cards are universally accepted, and it’s always wise to take one for emergency situations. However, you might just find a quaint little ‘cash only’ night market, where cash alone is accepted, or stumble across a cash only café. Be sure to take some local currency with you, so that you can tip hotel staff or call a taxi without having to track down a bank or bureau de change first. Do keep your ID documents handy. A driver’s license is an essential, in case you plan to rent a car. Also, in some countries a marriage license may be required for you to stay together as a couple.
♡ Essential toiletries and Medical Kit. It’s always wise to bring a small ‘medical kit’ with you on your honeymoon, including painkillers, antihistamines, stomach settlers and plasters. In addition to this, ensure you pack essentials such as mosquito repellent and antibacterial wipes.
♡ Your marriage certificate. Every newly married couple would love any additional ‘perks’ that vendors can offer. When stating that you are on your honeymoon, you might be offered a special honeymoon package, or even a flight upgrade, so it’s wise to take along a copy of your marriage certificate, just in case anyone requires proof.
♡ Camera. Your honeymoon is sure to be one of the most important holidays you will take; don’t forget to bring along a camera with a charger, and memory card. Also, plenty of film as this holiday is certainly one you’ll want to remember forever, photo’s are a great way to help you reminisce about this special moment in time.
♡ A knock out dress. It’s your honeymoon, romance will be in the air and you will want to look your best for that special dinner reservation you may have in mind. ‘Wow’ your new husband with a knockout dress.
♡ Romantic essentials! Massage oil, smoochy music, scented bubble bath… need we say more?
♡ Foldable, lightweight tote for bringing home souvenirs. It’s your honeymoon, so you may wish to bring back some souvenirs for memory keepsake; or pickup some thank you gifts and cards for your guests who attented your wedding. It’s always advisable to carry an extra bag for the special things you may pick up on your travels.
♡ Indulgent treats. Your honeymoon is a time to relax and indulge, so take along some beauty treats along with you, to really pamper yourself while you’re away. You might even take some goodies for your new husband too, as there’s nothing wrong with a little male grooming.
♡ Travel insurance. A honeymoon is supposed to be memorable – just be sure it’s not memorable for the wrong reasons. Honeymoon insurance is typically a single-trip travel insurance package plan. This plan should include coverage for the unforeseen situations that can occur on a honeymoon trip to ensure that the couple do not come home with unwanted (and unnecessary) bills.
