Kenz, our international businesswoman, and real bride diary contributor, is back with her most recent wedding planning updates. The outfits for her multi-cultural wedding are sorted and she’s over the moon! Over to Kenz to update you all.
Another article another city! Traveling for work has put further complications on planning our wedding. I don’t know how people can do both! I feel like I’ve really pushed the wedding aside and haven’t put in too much thought since we booked the venue. But with our guest list growing and the date getting closer and closer, I’m feeling the pressure.
We have finalised a few things though! I officially have my lehenga for the Mehndi. That means all my wedding outfits are accounted for!
We went to an exhibition in Emirates Towers that was filled with Indian clothes and jewellery. It was incredible! We got there on the second day and were told that many items were already gone/sold out (but that didn’t stop us from finding amazing things). Not only was it helpful for me but being able to send pictures to my family members that are unfamiliar with what they should wear to the Indian wedding was invaluable as well.
There were still so many beautiful outfits in one area, it made it harder to decide on what I wanted to wear. I ended up deciding on a beautiful white coloured lehenga. I know it’s not traditional, but I think that it will be a cool progression. With the American wedding on the 22nd, I will be wearing the white wedding dress, and then the evening of the 23rd, I’ll be wearing a more traditional red lehenga, wearing this stunning white (almost boho style) lehenga will be kind of a transitional piece almost.
Honouring My Great Grandma
One other thing we decided to do, was have our guests toss dried lavender when we leave the chapel, rather than confetti. Not only is it good for the environment and will smell amazing, but it was my great-grandmothers favourite scent. I’m glad that I found a way to honour her memory at the wedding in a way that everyone who knew her, will think of her in that moment. These little details are going to be my favourite part of the wedding. I can’t wait to see everything come to life and piece together into our perfect wedding -flaws and all .
