DIY Bird cage veil – By Simone Heng
For months I have been salivating over Jennifer Lawrence’s veil, in those Miss Dior campaign pictures. This veil retails for AED 1,500 and is so easy to make! I love how Laetitia Casta wore a similar one with red lips.
So I set about making one of my own, to attend the Grazia Style Awards. This is how it turned out:
I think this would be a perfect DIY for Bride Club ME, for the more daring bride or a budget bride looking for an alternative to the traditional veil. You can go ultra-simple with a plain birdcage, or feminine and polished by adding an accent flower or two. Of course, this birdcage veil can also be made in white for a wedding.
So by now you’re probably wondering how to make it. It’s so easy!
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Some veil net
- Bobby pins
- Fabric scissors
- Needle and thread
1) Cut a generous rectangular piece of the fabric off and fold it in half.
2) Cut it into the shape shown below, doubled on itself.
3) Unfold the netting.
4) Take the two pointed ends and tie in a knot.
5) Cut the ends off the knot.
6) Use a needle and thread to sew the knot in place.
7) Grab your bobby pins and insert into your hair.
This has got to be one of my fastest and coolest DIYs ever, and the most effective.
