We all adored it when Carrie Bradshaw began reading the “Love Letters of Great Men” book in the first “Sex and the City” movie. Inspired by this I wanted to create a wedding decoration that would use the words of these amazing letters.
This wreath can be used on the front of long tables where the bridal party will be seated, and lace and flowers can be worked into it to make it look more feminine. You can also use this for your engagement party to greet guests at the door of your venue.
For brides on a budget, you will adore this because it costs next to nothing to make!
Time: 2 hours
Difficulty: Beginners welcome!
What you need:
♡ Thin foam sheet
♡ Glue gun
♡ Pen
♡ Pages from old paperback books
♡ Scrap sheet of paper
♡ Scissors
♡ String
How to:
Step 1) Grab a sheet of A4 scrap paper and draw half a heart on to it and cut it out
Step 2) Use this as a template to draw the a full heart on the foam sheet
Step 3) From there add a 4-5 cm border around the heart shape. This doesn’t have to be perfect as the leaves made of paperback pages will even this out
Step 4) Cut out the foam heart
Step 5) Concertina/ fan fold the pages and glue between the folds to hold, glue these to the outside of the heart frame and work your way in.
Step 6) Use some string in a neutral colour and hook it around the peak of the heart, from there glue the leaves of pages over the peak to set the loop in place
Step 7) Keep working your way around until you have a good balance. If areas look flat, tear a page in half and glue it in a loop and place them to create volume wherever there are holes
Voila, here is the end result. It’s an easy and cheap project that makes a huge statement. If you try this DIY project, be sure to send us your pictures!
