Event Factory – 2013 in Weddings
The role of a wedding planner not only requires patience, dedication and organisational skills, it also requires creative flair and a keen eye for detail. Below, Kameliya Petrova and Menka Bhatia, the ladies behind wedding planning company, Event factory, talk us through some of their very own favourite 2013 weddings.
Pakistani Henna Party
This was a henna party for a Pakistani bride. The theme was bright colours, so we went with fuchsia, purple and orange. We wanted to re-create the exotic look and feel of South East Asia and the decor worked beautifully. The entire ballroom was light up with hundreds of tea light candles placed in little mud holders, and tables were decorated with large, traditional mud pots, mirrors and colourful laces. The ballroom was draped with endless strings of marigold to complete the look, the aromatic fragrance was a bonus!
A mixed culture wedding – Love & Butterflies
This was a warm and intimate beach wedding for a Spanish and Italian couple. The theme was blue and white, and we used butterflies as part of the decor and on the printed stationary. The LOVE letters are a still of a picture captured from the candy table, which was tied in to the colour scheme, including the candy itself!
Crystal White Wedding
We went all white with the reception stage set-up for this Afghan-American groom. He liked crystals, and we decided to design his stage around these. We kept the stage minimalistic with a crystal waterfall backdrop and a large crown of white hydrangeas to add a bit of floral glamour. The Centerpieces were large martini glasses, with an assortment of fresh flowers and delicate strings of crystals to add that extra bit of sparkle!
Indian Henna Party – A touch of Arabia
An Indian henna party with an Arabic theme, the decor at this event was an absolute hit. We decided to use traditional Arabic colours and fabrics, such as velvet and lace. We accesorised with Moroccan lanterns, Arabian trunks and flowing fabrics draped across the ballroom. The theme was further accentuated by women serving Arabic coffee in traditional outfits, and entertainment such as Tanoura and belly dancers we part of the celebrations too.
