A Beautiful Garden Party Wedding on Marina Island, Dubai
Garden Party Wedding on Marina Island, Dubai
A beautiful bride, a stylish groom, a traditional church wedding and a gorgeous garden party reception on Marina Island at Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club all feature in today’s REAL wedding post. Super talented photographer Melissa Beattie captured the day’s events with her soft and romantic imagery and some amazing images of Dubai’s evening skyline.
Below, Melissa talks us through photographing the wedding of Mike and Heather, both originally from the UK.

A Note From The Photographer
At 2pm on Sunday 6April, I was heading out of the door and on my way to photograph Mike and Heather’s wedding. I knew this was going to be a special day. It felt like I was going to photograph a friend’s wedding and that is exactly how they treated me. Mike and Heather are both teachers from the UK but currently live and work in Dubai.
They first contacted me back in February and we met a few times in the lead-up to their big day. Over this time, we all got to know each other well. This always helps when your clients are as camera-shy as these two. They had very clear ideas about what they wanted their wedding day to look like. In my own words, a relaxed English garden party, and they rocked it.
Mike looked dashing in his red shoes, dickie bow and matching pocket square, and Heather was stunning (though I think they would probably chuckle at me saying that). Her dress was beautifully handcrafted by Mumtaj at Lily Duds Tailoring.
After the ceremony, the cocktails and reception were held on Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club’s Marina Island. Surrounded by fairy lights and with downtown Dubai as a backdrop, it was the perfect venue for their vision, and I especially loved the little personal touches they’d incorporated, such as the personalised cushions, garden games and gorgeous rustic lanterns.
