This week, we have the privilege of showcasing Linda Mwaffak, director of groups, conferences and events at Conrad Dubai. Linda provides us with an exclusive insight into hosting weddings at Conrad Dubai and shares what she loves most about her job.

How long has Conrad Dubai been established, and what makes your hotel different when it comes to hosting weddings?

Conrad Dubai opened in November 2014, offering guests a true luxury service. We believe that a combination of unique features makes the experience we offer a memorable one, from the location on Sheikh Zayed Road to the private entrance and lifts taking guests directly to the spacious pre-function areas. This is where the bride and groom’s families gather to welcome guests, before proceeding into one of two marvellous ballrooms, capable of accommodating up to 900.

There’s also an amazingly talented team on hand to assist you every step of the way, as well as five-star chefs who cater to all tastes and cuisines and an artistic pastry chef who can make your dream wedding cake a reality.

What made you decide to work in the events and hospitality industry?

I have a passion for organising events and working with people. Working in the hospitality industry ticks all my boxes.

What do you love most about your work?

Every day is different: that feeling at the end of each event, when your client is satisfied by the work you and your team have done, is very rewarding.

Do you have any excit­ing wedding events coming up?

We participated in the Bride Show last month, and have several activities lined up, including our own bridal fair by the end of the year.

How do you build trust between you and your clients?

Knowing just how important their special day is, we offer assistance to the bride and groom at each stage of the planning process. A specialised wedding planner is available who prepares mock set ups, organises menu tasting and advises the couple on the best options to suit their wedding theme.

If you could give one piece of wedding planning advice to our readers, what would it be?

Don’t over plan!
