INTERVIEW: Get to know the wedding Pro | Sohad Acouri
Get To Know The Wedding Pro
With a lengthy career in fashion design, global recognition and bases in both Lebanon and Dubai, bridal gown designer Sohad Acouri is a local celebrity in his own right. The very lovely Sohad, who makes brides around the world swoon over his gowns, recently joined the Bride Club ME vendor club, and sat down with us for a chat so we could get to know this sought-after Lebanese fashion designer better, and learn more about his bridal collection ‘Sohad Acouri White’ .
When and how did you enter the world of wedding gown design?
I started when I was at college. A wedding is part of a woman’s life and I am fascinated by women. So I have this vision of a complete lifestyle for my “ultimate woman”.
Describe the Sohad Acouri style?
Sohad Acouri is all about femininity, respect and elegance. I keep the woman feminine, while respecting her body and wishes, and design elegant, luxurious gowns with personal touches.
What are your favourite fabrics to work with?
I adore working with dentelle, silk brocade, tulle, guipure, organdie and eco fabrics.
Which bridal gown designers do you personally admire?
I admire Vera Wang because she’s a rebel with extreme talent. Her designs are enchanting and her gowns are both simple and detailed at the same time.
Describe the experience a bride-to-be will have when hiring you to design her very own Sohad Acouri couture gown.
I acknowledge that a wedding is a life event that’s very important to the bride. Therefore, it is all about her, and I want her to not only be really happy and satisfied, but also feel gorgeous, comfortable and elegant. A Sohad Acouri couture gown will elevate the bride to the new heights that she aspires to reach.
What do you love most about your job?
Quite simply, making people happy while being creative and enjoying the process.
Do you have any exciting projects in the pipeline?
I am currently working on my next collection. I have a successful prêt-à-porter (ready-to-wear) collection selling exclusively at Galeries Lafayette, at Dubai Mall, and I plan to build on that through understanding my customers and knowing what they want, so they come back for more. I am also getting ready to launch Sohad Acouri White in Beirut next month.
If you could give one piece of wedding planning advice to our brides, what would it be?
Trust yourself and believe in your fashion designer, if you hire one.
And lastly, why did you decide to list with www.brideclubme.com?
I work with exquisite, quality partners, and I am excited that our names are now united. BCME and Sohad Acouri very much share the same vision.
