A Rainbow Inspired Wedding at the Rixos
It’s always refreshing to receive wedding submissions from our vendor club members, especially when the wedding is a tad different from the norm. The team here at Bride Club ME just loved the idea of a bright and cheerful rainbow inspired wedding on the beach in Dubai, and Melrish Photo’s and film captured the vibrancy of this wedding beautifully. Katrina Suzanne Rejante originally from the Philippines, and Matthew Borg of Canadian and Maltese origin, conducted their nuptials at the gorgeous Rixos, The Palm Dubai. We are delighted to feature their wedding right here on www.brideclubme.com.
The proposal…
Matt and I had been dating for almost a year when he proposed. We went to his hometown in Malta and he took me to a cliff with some of the most amazing scenery I’ve ever seen, and that’s when he asked to me to marry him. I just knew when I saw him for the first time that he was the guy I’m going to marry. It was the most amazing moment in my life and I’ll forever cherish that.
The wedding theme… We wanted a rainbow inspired beach theme, this was carried out through the bouquets, the bridesmaids’ dresses and decor.
The wedding cake….
Our wedding was provided by our venue, The Rixos Hotel and their fabulous catering team.
The dress…..

Most enjoyable part of the planning process…
I enjoyed every single part of the planning process, but what I really enjoyed the most was seeing my groom as I walked down the aisle towards him and seeing our lovely venue for the first time!
Most testing part of the wedding planning process as an expat bride…
I’m the most relaxed and stress free bride I must say, my husband did almost everything for the wedding. I’m blessed with a great man! I only had to worry about my wedding gown, everything else was prepared and organised by him. Thanks to our event organiser as well for doing a great job with the lights and wedding decor. We totally recommend them to couples who are planning to do their wedding in Dubai. They really look after their clients well and are creative with their ideas on setting up the wedding according to how you want it to be.
Top three tips for a bride-to-be…
1: Don’t scramble to do everything at the last minute. Start the planning process at least six months to give you enough time to focus on all important details.
2: Organizing a wedding can be very costly, so be careful with your expenses, plan your budget and stick to it. Only select products and services that you actually need.
3: Don’t stress! Easier said than done, but there are some things that you cannot control and that’s a fact! So just enjoy every single part of it.

A note from the photographers | Melrish Photos & Films
This wedding was probably the most romantic wedding we have ever shot. Trina and Matt met in Church where God led them to find their life-partners. Both had almost given up on love, but when they met each other, all their prayers were answered one by one. Trina prayed for a confirmation from God that the man destined for her would give her a white flower. Meanwhile, Matt prepared a small table for a sunset dinner on a cliff in Malta where he will be popping the question. In his hand was a stunning diamond ring and a white flower…God’s confirmation to Trina.
Preparation for the wedding went underway with the help of the brides friends. Trina wanted a colourful wedding at the beach at sunset, and the Rixos was the perfect place for them. Believe it or not, Trina’s bouquet was a combination or real hydrangeas and paper cutouts conjured by her friends on the last minute. Decorations were also made of different coloured fabrics and paper flowers combined with real natural hydrangeas. Beautiful and very practical!
During the preparation, Trina was rehearsing a special song ‘From this moment on’ for Matt which she sang as her vows. Matt was in tears as she sang in front of him. It truly was a wonderful wedding of which we were delighted to be part of.
