Luxury weddings are no longer just about beautiful flowers and elegant tablescapes, they’re about creating an immersive experience that tells a couple’s story through exceptional design, impeccable styling and unforgettable moments.
At the forefront of this new era of wedding design is Zahra Studio, a luxury destination wedding and event planning studio specialising in sophisticated celebrations across Europe and Dubai. Known for creating weddings with a strong editorial aesthetic, Zahra blends high fashion, architecture, art and contemporary design to produce celebrations that are as visually captivating as they are deeply personal.
As part of Bride Club ME’s Give Back Series, we caught up with founder Flaminia Bastoni to learn more about her journey, her design philosophy and what it really takes to create a truly unforgettable luxury destination wedding.
Tell us a little about yourself and your journey into luxury wedding planning. What inspired you to launch Zahra Studio?
I founded Zahra Studio at the intersection of design, fashion and hospitality, convinced that a celebration can be a work of art in its own right. I wanted a different kind of wedding planning—not a template, but an editorial story that pairs the precision of true event production with the soul of couture, guiding couples through a calm, considered process. That is how Zahra was born: sophisticated destination weddings that are deeply personal and quietly unforgettable.

Zahra Studio is known for creating beautifully curated, fashion-led celebrations. How would you describe your signature style and approach to wedding design?
Our signature is editorial elegance with restraint: refined palettes, architectural lines, beautiful materials and a sense of intentional space. I always begin with concept before colour, though colour often helps spark the story. We define the feeling first, then build the visual language around it, from stationery and tablescapes to florals and lighting. I’d rather do fewer elements exceptionally well than fill a room, so the result feels cohesive, considered and unmistakably the couple’s own.
You’ve recently expanded into Dubai after planning luxury weddings across Europe. What attracted you to the UAE wedding market, and how does it compare to Europe?
Dubai has an energy that is hard to find anywhere else, ambitious, international and genuinely open to bold, design-led ideas. The couples here are international, well-travelled and discerning, the venues range from desert landscapes to architectural marvels, and there’s an appetite for excellence that aligns perfectly with how we work. That combination was impossible to resist.
Compared to Europe, where so much of the beauty comes from heritage and a slower sense of place, Dubai offers a blank canvas and a spirit of possibility. Europe whispers; Dubai is happy to make a statement. I love being able to draw from both worlds: the romance and craftsmanship of European destinations and the scale, precision and modern luxury of the UAE.
We often hear the term “editorial wedding”. What does that mean, and how do you bring that aesthetic to life for your couples?
An editorial wedding is designed with a clear creative direction, a considered palette, beautiful styling and a strong point of view, but with all the warmth of a real celebration. We bring it to life by building a complete design world for each couple, where mood, materials, colour, typography, florals and light all work together, paying attention to the details others overlook, so every frame looks elevated while the couple still feels completely at home.
Fashion appears to play a significant role in your creative process. Where do you draw your inspiration, from couture, architecture, interiors, travel, or somewhere else entirely?
Couture and architecture are my two anchors: from couture I take silhouette, texture and effortless refinement; from architecture, structure, proportion and the way space shapes emotion. Beyond that I find inspiration in interiors, art and travel—the colours of a city, a gallery exhibition, the materials of a beautiful hotel. I firmly believe inspiration rarely comes from looking at other weddings, but from living with your eyes open and translating those references into something original for each couple.
When working with a couple, how do you balance creating a visually stunning wedding while ensuring it still reflects their personalities and love story?
The design only works if it feels like them, so our process starts with real conversation: how they met, how they live, what they find beautiful. My job is to elevate, not overwrite. I weave personal touches into a refined framework so the day feels both elevated and authentic—a heightened version of their own taste. When guests walk in and say, “This is so them,” I know we’ve struck the right balance.
Destination weddings can feel overwhelming for many couples. What advice would you give to anyone planning a wedding abroad and what are the biggest benefits of working with an experienced destination planner?
Start with the feeling and the location, then build trust with a planner who truly knows the destination. Most of the overwhelm comes from logistics, vendors, contracts and legalities—exactly what a good planner takes off your plate. The real benefit is peace of mind: vetted local relationships, an understanding of cultural and practical nuances, and the ability to anticipate problems before they arise.
Luxury weddings continue to evolve. What trends are you loving now, and are there any trends you’d like to see left behind?
I love the move towards intentional, design-led celebrations, refined palettes, sculptural florals, beautiful craftsmanship and multi-day experiences, alongside a return to genuine hospitality, which is the real heart of luxury. What I’d happily leave behind is excess for its own sake and design that’s loud simply to be photographed.
Looking ahead, what do you hope to bring to Dubai’s wedding scene, and what can couples expect when working with Zahra Studio?
I hope to bring a distinctly fashion-led sensibility to Dubai: celebrations that feel refined, personal and quietly confident rather than simply grand. Couples can expect a calm, highly personal process, a true creative partnership, complete transparency, meticulous attention to detail and, above all, the feeling of being looked after.
Finally, if you could give every Bride Club ME couple one piece of advice when planning their wedding, what would it be?
Stay true to yourselves and protect the meaning of the day. It’s easy to get swept up in expectations and endless inspiration, but the most beautiful weddings are always the ones that feel honest.
