Getting Things Done!
After choosing her celebrant last month, our real Dubai Bride Michelle Williams has made even more progress in November. With décor being purchased in earnest, bridesmaids dresses sorted and another venue trip made, Michelle’s wedding is well on its way to being organised. Of course, that’s not to say there haven’t been testing times this month. Read on to find out more!
This month is all about bridesmaids dresses, a change of Make-Up Artists and hairdresser, more wedding decor, overdue invites and a trip back to Arabian Ranches.
A few weeks back, I met up with the lovely Anne-Maria from Plume Hats. I was put in contact with this wonderful company through the Bride Club ME website. Anne-Maria was extremely polite, helpful and very flexible with the date and time she could meet me. We had coffee in Marina Mall and snuck into a monsoon changing room so I could see, feel and get a jiffy of how these beautiful garments will look on the girls for the big day! The material is silk-like and can be worn in more ways than one! The reason I chose these dresses was that not only are they stunning and you can wear them however you like but, they are great for any occasion which means the bridesmaids will be able to wear the dress more than once. I went for the mink pink colour.
I had a bit of a stressful time as my MUA and Hairstylist will no longer be in Dubai on the date of the wedding, so I had hundreds of messages from all sorts of people trying to offer me their services. I was talking to a friend who I used to go to school with who also lives here in Dubai, and he kindly put me in contact with the lovely Sham, a close friend and makeup/hairstylist from the UK who has worked in the industry for over twelve years. After having a look at her work and speaking on the phone for an hour, I arranged to have a trial with her and she was perfect! Sham is very supportive and gives the client exactly what they’re looking for. I’m excited and feel at ease knowing she’ll be there on the day.
With work being so hectic, invites are now overdue and should have been sent out last month. As a teacher, I am very set on being organised and having everything run smoothly, however, that one important thing did slip my mind and I’m working on getting them out in the next few days… we will get there!
Myself and Sam went back to Arabian Ranches with a whole list of questions to ask the the lovely Joyce (lifestyle events executive) again found through Bride Club ME. She is absolutely amazing and is very supportive of making sure our day runs as smoothly as possible. When visiting last Saturday, we had the privilege of seeing a set up after a wedding ceremony that had taken place just a few hours before. It gave us some inspiration to get married around sunset. The setting was beautiful, and we can now start to visualise the finer details. Everything seems to be coming along nicely so, so far so good!
We have been and bought a lot of décor items for the wedding and are extremely excited now it’s creeping closer!
Here is a list of the items purchased so far:
Candle votives X 20
Chalkboards X 2
Candle holders X 6 sets
Steel Lanterns X 6 Large X 6 Small
Easel stands X 6
Wooden table numbers
Burlap Mr & Mrs chair banners
Small candles X 24
We have been liaising with vendors and will decide on videography, floral arrangements, entertainment, the seating plan and more over the next few weeks.
I look forward to writing my next post. In the meantime, enjoy the glorious winter sunshine and I’ll see you next month for more real bride adventures!
