They’ve shared with us the enchanting celebration of Saijjal and Manvir, a couple with Indian heritage living in the UK, who sought the ultimate Dubai experience for their lavish wedding at the breathtaking Taj Exotica, the Palm. We had the pleasure of chatting with the founders of Ikigaii Planners to get the inside scoop on what made this wedding so magical.

A Note From The Wedding Planner

Tell us about the client’s vision for the celebrations. How did you go about planning it?

The couple is based out of the UK and wanted the ultimate experience of Dubai. One of the things that I remembered was the bride mentioning it was her mum’s dream to get her married at a Taj venue, for which we shortlisted the Taj Exotica Dubai, The Palm.

What did you enjoy most about the experience? What were the themes chosen for the functions?

The couple were really clear they didn’t want anything ‘ordinary’ at their wedding. Based on this, we picked various themes for it. For the Haldi Maiyan it was an Arabic theme, for the Jago Sangeet we created a Mad Hatter’s party. If you look at the cards hanging, it had the bride and groom’s pictures incorporated on it and the bride’s entry was in a trolley decorated by our team with the utmost detail as everything they wanted was extraordinary.

The wedding ceremony then took place at the Gurudwara followed by lunch which was a langar style menu at one of the restaurants at the Taj hotel.

Finally, the reception was themed as a glowing neon jungle. We had custom-curated perfumes as favours with the bride and groom creating a mix of special perfumes based on Arabian scents they liked the smell of. This particular fragrance was customised specifically for this event.

Any interesting anecdotes or challenges from your experience of planning the celebration?

You rarely find a bride with such a clear vision of what she wants. I would say since this was not your ‘regular’ bride, it also made us truly up our game. The bride was completely involved during each step from designing the invitation cards to choosing the decor and planning the menu to perfection. She was also the one who styled the entire wardrobe with different designers for each event!
