Real Wedding By Yes! Exclusive Weddings & Events: Shades Of Purple With A Spark Of Ivory
Today we bring you another real wedding, this time from our Mother and Daughter team of vendors, Elfi and Sylvia Bösinger, who together form Yes! Exclusive Weddings & Events. This pretty wedding celebrates the marriage of Andjela and David, who held their special day at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, in November last year.
We love the bright purple and ivory colour scheme, particularly as part of the outdoor setup, where the stunning blooms on the wedding arch form a gorgeous contrast against the bright blue sky and azure sea. Heading indoors, the wedding stationery again stays true to the theme, as does the cake, which features cascading edible flowers that look so incredible, it would almost be a crime to actually eat the cake!
Below, Elfi from Yes! Exclusive Weddings & Events tells us all about how she planned and executed Andjela and David’s big day. Enjoy!
A Note From The Wedding Planner
When you live and work in the UAE as a wedding planner, the chances are very high that sooner or later you will be planning a wedding for a couple that met in the aviation industry. This was the case with Andjela and David, who have both lived in Abu Dhabi for over a decade and who originally met at their work place; at the corporate office of Etihad Airlines.
We love to get to know our couples really well and are always interested in their love stories. This one started at the only copy machine located in Andjela’s office back in 2006, which David had to use. How romantic; it could have been from a movie! Ten years down the line, and after many more conversations about ink and the correct paper size, they decided to tie the knot at the St. Regis Saadiyat Island Resort, Abu Dhabi, flying in most of their family members from the UK and Slovenia.
Andjela and David contacted us about a year in advance, to plan their wedding in the middle of the year. Then, tragically, Andjela’s father suddenly passed away, putting all planning activities on hold whilst they tried to make peace with the situation and find a way to focus on a wedding without every bride’s most important person walking her down the aisle. What a shock for the entire family. What a relief when you have a wedding planner who can take care of all the administrative work in the background and discreetly postpone everything.
The couple then selected November 5th, 2016 to be their special day and we did everything in our power to make this intimate wedding affair one to be positively remembered for a long time. The colour concept was clear, as we had already designed the invitation cards in shades of purple with a touch of ivory.
Apart from designing the stationery and creating the floral décor, we had the pleasure to be involved in the music and menu selection to make sure the predominant colours were also visible on the plates served at the modern, chic restaurant 55&5th, The Grill, which was perfect for the number of guests. We also recommended the photographer and the ceremony officiant.
And then it was the day. It was still quite hot in the afternoon, but the sky was clear and the light breeze from the sea offered some comfort for this beach ceremony. The 60 guests were first taken to the beach bar, Turquoise, where they enjoyed some cooling welcome drinks before heading to the pristine white beach where the wedding ceremony was conducted by the experienced Binny, who is a professional wedding celebrant from the team of HS Celebrant. Binny welcomed David and Andjela, walked down the aisle by her Uncle, for an emotional exchange of vows in front of the deep blue ocean.
While the couple enjoyed taking some pictures at sunset with Terri, a photographer from Pink Pepper, the guests moved to the spacious terrace of the restaurant. Shortly after, the couple joined the celebration and dinner was served – truly a feast for the eyes!
After the first dance and some great tunes from the cover band Once Duo, where guests showed off their best dance moves, a very personal gift from a dear friend was rolled onto the dance floor – a handmade wedding cake with dozens of sugar flowers in the colour palette of the day.
It was truly a wonderful day to remember and we were grateful to be part of so many special moments, as well as to experience that special bond when clients become friends. Thank you for your trust and we wish you a lifetime of happiness.
