The Talise Fitness Royal Bridal Package
If there is one time in your life when you can really go all out with the personal pampering, it’s in the lead up to your wedding day. Today’s bridal beauty and fitness review samples some of the wonderful treatments and services on offer via The Royal Bridal Package, which brings together the expertise of Talise Fitness and Talise Spa to help brides look and feel their absolute best on their big day.
Understanding the desires and catering to the needs of brides-to-be, Talise Fitness at Burj Al Arab Jumeirah has created a specialised 12-week programme designed to enhance the overall well-being of the bride-to-be, and to ensure the very best results when it comes down to a bride’s confidence in her appearance.
The ‘Royal Bridal Package’ doesn’t come cheap, but if you tally up what is on offer, it’s actually great value and includes the below.
- 24 dedicated personal training sessions
- 3 InBody Assessments to check your progress
- 3 personalised nutrition consulting sessions with Talise Nutrition Executive Wellbeing Chef Gabriele Kurz
- 4 Massages at Talise Spa
- 2 Facials at Talise Spa
- 3 month Talise Fitness membership at Burj Al Arab
- Bonus – Celebrate with a private Belly Dancing class for you and up to 10 of your girlfriends.
The above package can further be tailored to accommodate individual requirements.
I was lucky enough to trial a 1 hour and 15 minute personal training session and InBody assessment with super fit Talise Personal Trainer Karmen, and also got to experience a one-to-one nutritional consultation with Chef Gaby. All of this was followed by the most delicious La Prairie Illuminating Facial and a signature Talise massage, whilst being treated to lots of wholesome foodie delights in between.
Location
My day of fitness, relaxation and pampering took place at the Talise Fitness centre and the Talise Spa, both of which are within the luxury 7* hotel, the Burj Al Arab. Located on Jumeirah Beach Road, you really cannot miss this iconic sale-shaped building.
My Nutritional Consultation with Chef Gaby
After entering the private gates of The Burj Al Arab, I was guided to the upper level lobby where I met with the lovely Gabriele Kurz, Talise Nutrition’s Executive Wellbeing Chef. Gabriele asked me lots of questions relating to my personal eating habits and general lifestyle. I explained to her that in my line of work I am often on the go and therefore have very little time to think about planning my meals. I’m also fortunate or ‘unfortunate’ enough to be tempted by lots of yummy goodies all the time at wedding industry events and launches, which often has an undesirable effect on my waist line.
After our chat, Chef Gaby suggested that I avoid risking the desire to binge eat by consuming small portions of food more frequently (5 healthy mini meals per day). A few days after my visit, I received a personalised meal plan that she had created, which also took into consideration food choices when eating out. One of her tips to me included asking the waiter to remove the bread basket and having crudités or a green salad instead.
My favourite recipe from my personalised meal plan was the delicious breakfast Frittata or Omelette with mushroom, spinach and kale. YUM!
For all you lovely brides who are busy planning your wedding and working at the same time, a consultation with Chef Gaby could really help you keep on track with your healthy eating habits.
PT session with Karmen (1 hour including 15 min InBody assessment)
After my consultation with Chef Gaby, I then met with Karmen Debauchez, resident trainer at Talise Fitness at the Burj Al Arab.
Karmen started my session off with a tour of the premium ‘ladies only’ gymnasium. The gym is fully equipped with the latest in advanced equipment and has a gorgeous view overlooking the ocean.
After my tour, Karmen showed me their InBody body composition analysis machine. I had to stand on the machine and hold two devices, which, like magic, gave me the most accurate, precise, and convenient method to measure my body fat, muscle mass, and much more. The good news? My muscle mass is above average. The bad news? I am still at least 10kgs overweight, sigh!
I received a print out of my overall analysis and have now pinned it safely on my fridge to remind me that I need to get my workout butt in gear.
After the InBody assessment, Karmen put me through my paces with a personal training session. Let’s just say, I needed a lot of water and was evidently sweating like a sumo wrestler in a sauna. Karmen was very professional and knew how to safely push me within my limits, explaining the benefits of each exercise we practiced. My muscles ached for a few days afterwards, but I felt great too!
Pool time & Spa Time (60 min massage & La Prairie Illuminating Facial, 70 min)
Ahhh, the pool and spa, my favourite part of the Talise experience. The award winning ‘nature’ based spa is opulent and offers a warm and inviting environment. Before my massage and facial, I spent some down time swimming in the spa’s infinity pool whilst taking in the stunning view of the Arabian Gulf. Stretched over two floors, separate men’s and women’s amenities ensure total privacy and discretion.
After my swim, I settled in to enjoy the spa’s La Prairie Illuminating Facial. This advanced skin brightening facial treatment reduces pigmentation and illuminates the overall appearance of the skin. The skin’s texture is restored, resulting in a smoother and more youthful looking complexion. It’s not often that I will show a bare faced picture of myself (see below), but my skin did have a healthy glow afterwards, and felt rejuvenated with a tingly fresh sensation.
My therapist and I both recommend that brides avoid having a facial too close to their wedding day, so do ensure that your last facial is at least a week before your big day.
After my facial came the part where I could completely zone out, and zone out I did with a delicious ‘wellbeing’ massage that used traditional, classic Swedish massage techniques. This style of massage utilises long, flowing strokes using pure Argan oil to provide maximum wellbeing. I was so relaxed that I woke myself up snoring. My therapist managed to contain her laughter, bless her.
Feeling completely Zen after my treatments, I spent some down time drinking ‘wellness tea’ and grazing on healthy apricots and dates which were served in the spa’s relaxation Lounge. As I felt like I wanted to sleep for hours after my spa experience, the opportunity to just relax was welcomed.
Spa treatments at Talise include all-day access to the Burj Al Arab’s luxurious beach, swimming pool, jacuzzi and sauna. Additional facilities include a squash court, a fitness centre with aerobic facilities, an advanced cardiovascular area and resistance training equipment.
Talise Spa treatments can be reserved from 9:15 to 21:00. You should note that the couples’ treatment room is located on the mixed side of the spa, hence you may encounter some male guests during your visit.
