A Timeless Wedding At Desert Palm By The Purple Chair
With gorgeous neutral tones and an array of natural materials, we fell in love with this real wedding as soon as we received the images. Styled and planned by The Purple Chair and held at one of our favourite venues, Desert Palm Resort & Spa, Dana and Tarek’s wedding was actually a destination wedding, as they both live in London.
Read on to find out how The Purple Chair planned such a gorgeous wedding from afar, ensuring that the bride and groom’s needs were met throughout the planning process. Enjoy!
A Note From The Wedding Planner
The Bride and Groom are based in the UK, so we enjoyed planning the wedding with them over several skype calls. During these calls, we discussed their vision and how the Purple Chair can help them to bring it to life.
Having worked closely with the Desert Palm for several weddings in the past, it’s always exciting to create a new and unique wedding at this lovely hidden gem for each couple. Dana shared her ideas with us, and along with the very talented florist Evgenia from Tulipano Décor, we created a simple, timeless wedding that complimented the natural elements of the garden.
We combined rustic elements along with delicate silk and white stone to decorate the dinner tables. Maria Sundin, one of our favorite photographers, captured all the delicate details of Dana and Tarek’s stationery, setup and couple shots so beautifully.
Dana and Tarek chose the Desert Palm to be the beautiful backdrop for their big day. Both bride and groom live in London and chose Dubai to hold their destination wedding, hosting friends and family from around the world. The couple started the celebration with a traditional Arabic Zaffa followed by an intimate Sofreh where they exchanged vows and promises. The couple later danced the night away under the stars and romantic lights in the Desert Palm’s beautiful museum garden.
The couple wanted to celebrate both their Iraqi and Egyptian traditions as it was important to them to capture and celebrate their backgrounds. This was done through their intimate Sofreh ceremony, where the guests were left in tears after hearing beautiful recited poems and vows to one another, followed by the traditional ceremony. Elements were used to decorate the Sofreh, with each element being symbolic. Some of the beautiful elements used were a mirror and candelabras to brighten their future, silk and sugar to symbolise family, and rose water to add perfume to their life together.
For the set up of the venue, we were particularly proud of the seating chart, which was one of our favorite elements of the wedding. We created a scroll and listed all of the guests’ names using hand calligraphy.
In addition, our Bohemian bride and groom chairs that adorned the couple’s table were also a focal point. Bateel dates were given to all guests as giveaways and they were a big hit as the packaging was lovely and they were delicious!
