Are you married? Ever dreamt of wearing your bridal gown again, just to relive that special day? Last weekend, Friday 4th June, this is exactly what a group of Dubai-based expats did, when they met at Fogo de Chao Brazilian restaurant in Dubai’s swish Financial Centre. Organised by the founders of lifestyle marketing agency F&F which was established in 2017, the aptly named intimate event “Runaway Bride”, offered the women the best excuse to glam up and don their bridal gowns, with some choosing to attend in their engagement dresses, maid of honour or bridesmaid’s attire.

The idea was sparked by a conversation on a well-known UAE women’s Facebook group, initiated by Yas Khan and Nada Roberts. Yemeni expat Nada Roberts says: 

The idea came after I posted on a Facebook group, asking if anyone else ever feels like they want to wear their wedding dress again. Some were horrified at the thought and others said they would love to and wanted to make it happen.

She continues.

There was one woman who was meant to get married last year, but due to lockdown, it did not happen, and she and her partner ended up separating. For her, this was an opportunity for closure. Another couple got married, but never got the chance to have their dream wedding photos, so this offered them a chance to dress up and get some together in their wedding outfits.

The Facebook conversation was quickly picked up by F&F founders Ana Olmeda and Paz Gonzales, and turned into action. With the Beauty Garden salon, an organic concept located in JLT, providing pampering services to the women in attendance and seasoned photographer Adeel Anwar, playing the official “wedding photographer”, the beautiful run-away brides had a great evening, filled with laughter, good food and new friendships forged.
