Wedding DIY: DIY frame giveaway
January’s well underway, and we’re all busy getting back into shape after the excess of the holidays, which, let’s face it, feel like ages ago already. Kudos to all those brides who were extra careful when it came to the delicious holiday treats and desserts – there’s nothing quite like knowing there’s a wedding dress to fit into! I’m ecstatic to announce I’ve returned from my holiday with a heavy left hand, which now sports a lovely new vintage diamond ring.
So as I get crafty, teaching you lots of wedding DIY tricks, know that I will be drawing on the incredible ideas I’ve got for crafting my own wedding. After spending three gorgeous weeks in South Africa’s sunny Cape Town, I’ve got tonnes of inspiration for lovely crafts, and this month myself and team Nifty are IN LOVE with corks! Let’s just say that all the beautiful vineyards and wine tasting inspired me to stash away every wine and champagne cork in sight!
The Project
Weddings are usually remembered with lovely pictures, broken heels and happy moments, but we thought we’d show you how to provide a romantic take-away DIY favour for your guests! And by that, I mean they’ll be making their own memory gifts …well, sort of. What you need to do is encourage your guests to keep the cork from the bottle they toast you with. This lovely frame will be at the ready on their table, to tie the cork onto the frame with a bow and take home for the mantlepiece. Trust us when we say it will be the perfect reminder of your gorgeous day.
All you will need:
♡ Cheap frame (we got this one at Diaso for 9dhs – can you believe it?)
♡ Wedding craft paper
♡ Scissors
♡ Ribbon
♡ Printer
♡ Artisan element – craft frames
Step 1 & 2: Take the glass off the frame and RECYLCE it or keep it for a later project! You won’t need it right now. Choose a piece of craft paper that matches your colour theme and cut it to the size of the image that came in the frame.
Step 3: Print or, if you have awesome handwriting, write a message of your choice on the page.
Step 4: Either choose an Artisan Element frame (we bought these at Paperlane in Jumeirah) or you can print and cut your own. This will help incase the cork nicely.
Step 5: Cut two slips inside the small frame and slide a thin ribbon, with your colour scheme, through both sides.
And voila! You might want to pair it with a small note on the table to let your guests know how to complete the project with their cork. You and your friends and family will love this memento for years to come!
You can do it for anniversaries or special days too, and make a collection of them! So sweet.
