Behind the Scenes with Bride Club ME
Hello fans! Rio here, bringing you an update on what I’ve been up to behind the scenes at www.brideclubme.com. From hanging out with some pretty awesome vendors in Abu Dhabi to launching a new Bride Club ME initiative, I give you the lowdown below.
The Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi, Wedding Showcase
Last month, I was delighted that Bride Club ME was chosen to be among the select few companies and media partners working with the Park Hyatt, Abu Dhabi Wedding Showcase, which took place in Abu Dhabi on 3May.
I headed to the event from Dubai with one of my favourite BCME vendor club members Ananda Shakespeare, aka DJ Sister Rock, and set up our Bride Club ME stand, ready to welcome some of our readers and new brides to the venue. DJ Sister Rock spun some great tunes throughout the event, dressed in her usual quirky attire!
The ballroom and outdoor areas at the Park Hyatt had been beautifully set up with an array of table settings and floral arrangements to showcase what the venue could look like during a wedding celebration.
A carefully curated list of partners also exhibited at the event, including my friend Joelle, a talented wedding stylist and blogger over at My Lovely Wedding, and a number of BCME vendor club members, such as wedding gift registry company MyList, stationery designer Louma at Design by Louma, the lovely team over at Goldfish Photography & Video (whose images you see here), DJ Sister Rock, The Social Booth and Ritu from Creative Box.
I met many engaged couples during the showcase and offered one-on-one wedding consultancy at our stand, providing brides and grooms with inspiration, wedding planning tips and vendor suggestions for their entertainment, photography, wedding planning and logistical needs.
The event was a great success and the hotel’s catering staff did a fantastic job preparing mouthwatering deserts for everyone.
I can personally vouch for the hotel as a wedding venue, as my best friend married there last year and I was her maid of honour! The staff were great and the wedding was just wonderful. I look forward to next year’s showcase!
The Engage Academy
For the past month, I’ve been working on a new venture called The Engage Academy. In partnership with my friend Shikkha, founder of The Fashset, we decided to launch a network and series of workshops/events for wedding industry professionals.
Our first event, The Engage Academy – Wedding Vendor Workshop, took place last week at the CONRAD Dubai Hotel and was a HUGE success. I’ll be honest, I was very nervous that the turn out would be low and how it would go, but we were a packed house and the feedback so far has been amazing. Here are a few teaser shots from the day courtesy of Enchante Studios, but do stay tuned for the full feature, with details about the speakers, the event, a video and images, coming soon!
This month, I won’t have much to report as I am off on my honeymoon, finally! – my first real break since I launched www.brideclubme.com. But I will be back with a review of our honeymoon experience in Africa! Yay, can’t wait to tell you all about it!
Ciao for now….
