Get to know the wedding Pro!
Each week, we shine the spotlight on our Bride Club ME vendor club members, allowing our readers to get up close and personal with some of the best wedding vendors in town.
Here, you can learn more about the people behind some of the businesses you may hire to help make your wedding day perfect!
This week we have the privilege of showcasing twin sisters Dee & Dal Haleem, professional hair and make-up artists and founders of Make-Up by Dee & Dal. Dee and Dal provide us with an exclusive insight into their bridal make-up and hair stylist roles, and share with us what they love most about their jobs.
- How long has Make-Up by Dee & Dal been established?
We’ve been doing hair and make-up for many years now, and were always called on by friends and family for our assistance for parties, weddings and so on. We established the company Make-Up by Dee & Dal at the end of 2012. Although we’re relatively new as a company we have been known for our ability and creativity for a long time.
- What do you love most about your work?
We love the look on our client’s faces when they see themselves in the mirror when we are finished with their transformation. It never gets old. Making someone look their absolute best and enhancing each person’s natural beauty is a really rewarding feeling. It’s been said that those who work in a creative field are the happiest and we truly believe that. Having make-up and hair styling as our creative outlet has given us real fulfilment.
- How do you manage trust from your clients? After all it is the most important day of their life.
We’re brutally honest and are each other’s harshest critics. We will always get a second opinion from each other and in front of clients will say ‘I think you should change that a little bit’ or ‘I think she’d suit this more’. Having being perfectionists about each other’s work in front of our clients makes them feel how passionate we are about making them look amazing, and that seems to really help them trust us.
We also always push for honest feedback – it’s all too common for people to want to be polite and just nod and say they like something, when really they want something changed. We encourage feedback and open dialogue which makes our clients know we really care about wanting them to be comfortable and happy. A big part of make-up and hair is comfort, as well as trust. Once our clients are at ease and comfortable with our abilities and personalities, the rest comes easily, and they end up with a look that they absolutely love.
- Do you have any exciting weddings/events coming up this year?
We are excited about every wedding we are a part of to be honest! It’s such an honour to be involved in such a special day, that we are always excited about it. Our clients truly become our friends and to spend this important day with them is humbling. We go above and beyond to calm their nerves, relax them during the preparation time, and get them to their wedding feeling happy, excited and fabulous.
- Do you have a favourite wedding ceremony and / or reception location at in the UAE?
There are so many beautiful venues in the UAE we are truly spoilt for choice as brides here. We love Dubai’s ‘One & Only Royal Mirage’ and ‘Magnolia’ venues as they’re so stunning, and the grounds are amazing.
- How can our readers (Brides) benefit from hiring you as their official bridal hair and make-up artists?
Honestly? We make it fun! The stress of the big day can sometimes be so overwhelming that the bride forgets to have fun and truly enjoy every moment of her day. Our reassuring working style, dedication to making them look beautiful and fun, light-hearted approach makes our brides relax and let us do the hard work.
- Are there any extra tips you can give to a bride to help make her look her absolute best on her special day?
Yes! Make sure you have a good cleansing facial before your wedding, BUT plan this at least 4 weeks before the big day. This will give your skin time to calm down and go through some of the changes skin experiences right after a facial. Also, for those with curly or wavy hair, don’t wash your hair on the day of the wedding. We recommend washing and blow drying one day before the event (2 days for very curly hair). The hair will be less frizzy and much easier to style and hold in a style.
- Lastly, why did you choose to list with www.brideclubme.com?
We’d been looking into listing with wedding websites in the UAE but hadn’t really found any that we felt suited us and what we’re all about. Brideclubme.com is an approachable, stylish brand, and you feel confident when using it that you’re being given the absolute best advice possible. These are all things we pride ourselves on – so it was the perfect fit.
