This week we have the privilege of showcasing Louise Shrigley at The Studio. She will provide us with exclusive insight working as a professional photographer at The Studio, and shares with us what she loves most about her job.

- How long has ‘The Studio’ been established and what do you do?
The Studio Dubai offers photography and videography in a picturesque courtyard in the heart of the Art district of Al Quoz. We offer family portraits wedding photography and videography, and corporate photography, including events. We also offer still life photography and studio rental.

- What do you love most about your work?
I enjoy shooting weddings and events, I love making photographs that make you ’feel’, producing emotion that lasts forever, especially for the bride.
- Do you have any exciting projects coming up?
It’s the start of the summer for us, which means its not the wedding season – way too hot and humid! But we do have quite a few weddings starting in September. One of these, is at the St Regis, Abu Dhabi – we have not shot a wedding here before and its going to be gorgeous!!!
- Do you have a favourite ceremony and/or reception location in the UAE that you love to photograph?
I love the Address, Mongomery – it’s so green and beautiful, amazing evening light and stunning backdrop for those important shots of the couple. We did shoot at the One & Only – the palm and that was gorgeous! The courtyard there was outstanding for the ceremony. The bride and groom had lots of choices for their bridal shots, such as the beach, the gardens, the courtyard, inside the hotel. It’s a very versatile hotel with an absolute stunning backdrop.

- Describe your style and approach to photography?
Our photographers capture visually stunning and natural images of your wedding day and have experience across many cultural weddings. So you can trust us to take care of the special moments for you.
Our approach to your special day involves a discreet, creative photojournalistic style, also incorporating formal groups when required. We plan your photography and videography with you in a few short meetings before the day. Then, even before your honeymoon is over, you get to relive your special day with an online gallery.

- How can our readers (Brides & Grooms) benefit from your services?
The benefit of The Studio is that we have a team of photographers and videographers in house and also work with freelancers. So the bride and groom need only to contact us for a choice of styles, rather than having to call many photographers directly. In addition we offer packages but also work with clients budgets and individual requests to tailor experiences to suit their needs. We also love what we do and the passion shows in our images.
- If you could give one piece of advice to expat brides to-be, what would it be?
Always have your hair and makeup done in your hotel room or home on your own or with a SMALL party – we have seen brides going to the salon with the 12 ladies bridal party and being 3 hours late because the salon left her to last.
Remember to plan the day with the knowledge that things do go wrong sometimes, its good to have an open mind and get on with it attitude so it does not ruin your day!

Good job, nice pictures
I had The Studio for my wedding and they were absolutely amazing to work with! How they set things is marvelous and their technique at capturing photos that look so natural is outstanding! They don’t over do it with the editing they make the picture just perfect. I have really enjoyed having them as my photographers and I almost wish I could have another wedding just to get another photo shoot! Everyone at The Studio is so kind and very nice it was comfortable to have them around on a hectic day that is my wedding.
So in conclusion they were absolutely wonderful and I would totally suggest them to every bride to be I know and would not hesitate to call them again if any event comes up in the near future.
My husband and I live in Canada and we had a destination wedding in Dubai in December 2013. Louise Shrigley and Suze Donkin from The Studio were our photographers for two events: our engagement and the wedding. Since we organized these parties remotely via email, phone calls, and Skype, we really didn’t know what to expect upon arrival, especially that a previous photography company in Dubai cancelled on us.
The Studio was a pleasant surprise. They were highly communicative with us through email and it was comforting to receive keen and reliable communications. Initially, Louise set up a Skype appointment with us to understand our vision for the day. She quickly realized our taste, recognized what is important to us, and suggested excellent ideas. As we arrived in Dubai and held our first party, Louise and Suze were on time, professional, and super friendly. They quickly set up and captured beautiful moments of us with our families – both in photos and videos.
For the wedding day, Louise offered to visit the venue with us in advance to learn about the details and arrangement. Unfortunately, our venue was challenging and surprised us with last-minute changes for our big day. It was stressful. Louise was present throughout our negotiations with the venue and was helpful in finding solutions. We really appreciated her time and support.
The day of the wedding was wonderful. Louise and Suze arrived early to set up and we really felt things were under control. My husband and I had a marvelous photo shoot by the beach, around sunset time – just the way we imagined it. We had fun with the shoot and they had fun as well. It was sublime! The pictures and videos turned out to be beyond our expectation.
If you are looking for competent, reliable, and professional photographers, you certainly need to get in touch with The Studio. They’re not only experts, but they also love what they do.
