Get to Know the Wedding Pro
Every week, we shine the spotlight on our Bride Club ME vendor club members with our ‘Get to Know the Wedding Pro!’ series of interviews, allowing our readers to get up close and personal with some of the best wedding vendors in town.
Here, you can learn more about the people behind some of the businesses you may hire to make your wedding day perfect!
This week, we are showcasing Ruth Abela, founder of Dubai-based online wedding dress and accessory retailer Abela’s Bridal Boutique. Ruth provides us with an exclusive insight into her company, and shares what she loves most about her job.
When did you set up your company and what do you do?
Abela’s Bridal Boutique was established at the end of 2012. We custom make wedding dresses to suit every budget. Many brides think having a dress made especially for them will be too expensive, but we want every bride to feel her best on her special day without breaking the bank.
What do you love most about your work?
I adore meeting brides-to-be and sharing in their excitement and anticipation for their big day.
Which bridal gown designers do you admire?
My favourite wedding dress designer is Valentino, but Jenny Packham and the obligatory Vera Wang are also on my love list.
Do you have any exciting projects or designs in the pipeline?
Our 2015 collection will be launched in the coming weeks, an exciting time for Abela’s Bridal Boutique.

Where are your gowns made?
Our dressmaker, Linda, is based in Hong Kong. We source our material from all over the world, so if a bride-to-be chooses a gown requiring French lace, we will already have a number of different French laces sourced. The bride-to-be can choose from a selection of materials, colours, appliqués, etc.
How can our brides benefit from your service?
Ladies who want Abela’s Bridal Boutique to make their dress can expect a quick and easy dress purchasing process. Only one fitting is required and the dress will be made to the bride’s exact measurements. Dresses usually take around four weeks to make, but if it is an urgent requirement it can be completed in a week.
If you could give one piece of advice to brides-to-be, what would it be?
Plan early and enjoy the moment!
Lastly, why did you choose to list with www.brideclubme.com?
I chose to list Abela’s Bridal Boutique with Bride Club ME because of its professional service. BCME offers brides a comprehensive list of wedding vendors and practical advice at a nerve-wracking time, so brides-to-be can feel confident with their choice of vendor. We have renewed our listing for another year and look forward to a continued and positive partnership.
