A Multi-Cultural Wedding At Desert Palm By Paula Scalco
Today’s dreamy wedding is courtesy of Brazilian photographer Paula Scalco, who captured Anam and Keagen’s special day in April this year. Taking place at one of our favourite venues, Desert Palm, the wedding that is beautifully captured below was the culmination of three days of celebrations.

A Note From The Photographer
This was a beautiful wedding. The bride is English with Pakistani background and the groom South African. The beautiful mix of culture can be seen throughout the event, especially on the colourful bridesmaids’ dresses. Anam wore a breathtaking henna design that was made for her Mehndi party which happened two days before the actual wedding day. Most of the guests had flown in from many parts of the world.
The wedding was held at Desert Palm, which was an amazing venue. I worked closely with the couple, agreeing on the time of both the ceremony and couple shots, to ensure they would have the best golden light (sunset light), for the couple shoot. I photographed the light coming through from the back of the couple, to create a dream effect, which is my favourite way of photographing. Also, I took some shots where the light was shining on the couple, to create clearer images.
I loved taking photos of the bridal entrance, as the light coming through was gorgeous and captured the emotions of that time.
Also, doing the couple shoot was a very special moment. As it was after the ceremony, the couple was already more relaxed and happy, and having that one hour alone with the couple is always a good time for them to interact and feel very close together, which is reflected in the photos. Desert Palm has many little places and cute hidden gems and I just wanted to keep on photographing forever.
Working with this particular couple was amazing, and I had met them previously. I captured the Mehndi party, and also photographed the entire family and guests in a cruise around the Marina. Having a three-day celebration made everyone feel comfortable having me around, and the photos, therefore, feel very natural.
