It’s All About The Details
A wedding is made up of so many memorable pieces that join together to form a truly magnificent day, punctuated by moments such as getting ready, walking down the aisle, the ceremony, the speeches, the first dance and the joy of having all of your loved ones in the same place. You may be busy deciding upon a theme for your upcoming wedding, which can often prove to be a tricky thing to do, since you’ll either have too many ideas or none at all (creative blocks happen to us all!). One thing that you may wish to consider when choosing a theme and ensuring that every element of your wedding flows to form the most amazing day, is the inclusion of details.
Whether it’s small items that are precious to you which you can use as part of your getting ready photographs, or your stationery, favours or particular items that form part of your tablescapes, details are important as they help to make your wedding personal, as well as impressing your guests with how much thought has gone into your big day, leading to memories to treasure forever.
Below, we take a look at some of the details which have featured in real weddings and styled shoots on BCME over the last year or so. We hope this gives you an idea of the possibilities when it comes to adding a twist to your overall theme and that it also inspires you to include those things that are special to both you and your husband to be. Enjoy!
A nod to the Middle East with Encre d’Or’s styled shoot
French wedding planners Encre d’Or (who also plan destination weddings here in the UAE) made the most of the opulent colours, palatial venues and rich fruits that the Middle Eastern region is traditionally well known for. The detail here was well planned in terms of colour, with flowers and fruits dominating the tables. You can view the whole feature here.
Intricate details in this Desert Palm wedding by The Purple Chair
In contrast to the bold tones above, this wedding, planned by The Purple Chair, was all about neutrals. We particularly adore the items in the detail shots below, which fit in perfectly with the wedding’s ‘timeless’ feel. It’s always a good idea to bring along some spare stationery, and have your jewelry and footwear to hand for your photographer to beautifully capture whilst you are getting ready. You can see the rest of the feature here.
Combining a travel theme with the bride’s heritage
When Kim and Simon planned their wedding with the help of Lavender Blue, they faced something of a fun challenge when trying to juggle various different themes. Nancy Bragg of Lavender Blue said at the time:
Kim had quite a few ideas for the theme. These included travel (Kim and Simon’s favourite hobby), chinoiserie (a decorative style in Western art, touching on her Chinese heritage), and her favourite colours; peach, creams, pastel blue and gold!
To be honest this did push our creativity to a new level. We absolutely loved the challenge of bringing all of these aspects together and still having a synergy between each element!
We hope this demonstrates that you shouldn’t feel limited to one theme. With creativity and the use of details, there’s always a way to incorporate all of those things that are so important to you both. You can view the real wedding here.
Gorgeous table details and favours at an Abu Dhabi wedding
A year ago, we featured this stunning Boho-Luxe real wedding which made clever use of details. Once again, the bride had saved pieces of her stationery suite for the all important detail photograph whilst she was getting ready. Moving on to the tables, the use of greenery and the cute succulent favour give away certainly gave guests something to smile about. You can also see, in the two photos below, how the green plant details are present in both images, showing how details can run throughout your entire wedding day.
Wedding favours that your guests will remember in this tropical styled shoot
We love this idea for simple wedding favours; lollipops for your guests that are customised with laser cut ‘thank you’ tags! As well as being something that your guests will all chat about on their tables, it’s also something that you can customise to fit the theme or colour scheme of your wedding. You can see the rest of the styled shoot, and more details, here.
A bold tablescape that stands out
BCME’s recent Urban Arabesque styled shoot is one of our most favourite shoots that we have worked on. In the image below, there are so many details that are all skilfully combined to create an eye catching table setting. From the place card and paper flowers to the ruffled linen and beautiful ‘love’ coaster, the use of details makes this a place setting to remember! You can read all about the shoot here.
