A Boho-Luxe Wedding At Saadiyat Beach Club by Cloud 9 Weddings & Events
Every so often, a wedding comes along that must be a planner’s dream. Today’s real wedding, which was submitted by BCME vendor and founder of Cloud 9 Weddings & Events, Mennat Al Hammami, was just that. Looking at the incredible photographs taken by the talented Maria Sundin (who must also have enjoyed being part of such a detailed, magical celebration), we were blown away by how everything looked so immaculate, tying into the ‘boho-luxe’ theme without being too organised or obvious. The result was truly spectacular, from the set up of the venue and the wooden details to the floral arrangements.
Back in November, Jumana and Yaqoob celebrated their marriage in Abu Dhabi, at the luxurious Saadiyat Beach Club. With an outdoor environment reminiscent of somewhere very different to the usual hotel beaches in the UAE, complete with wild grasses and pale sand, the natural beauty of the venue’s facilities tied in very well with their theme. Next week, BCME will feature the stunning video captured by our vendors Denee Motion, but for now, Mennat from Cloud 9 explains how she helped the couple to create a day to remember. Enjoy!
A Note From The Wedding Planner
Jumana and Yaqoob have a unique and positive energy about them. Meeting them for the very first time, I could easily see their admiration for one another’s personal traits – making them a planner’s dream couple! Their consultation was a walk in the park as they came prepared, having researched and picked the vendors they personally felt a connection to in terms of style and aesthetic. They had already picked their venue; the outdoor events lawn at the Saadiyat Beach Club.
Jumana, a creative designer herself (I love when my brides speak design) allowed me to broaden my horizons with my design proposal. She appreciated deconstructed arrangements and organic materials and knew she wanted to incorporate wood. I was so pleased as wood is incredibly versatile and aesthetically delightful. Using her foundations and guidelines, I was able to create a unique theme: a blend of bohemian, coastal garden and Tuscan charm!
Jumana was also specific about the colour palette, focusing on neutrals. She kept consistent with these décor elements when she co-ordinated the designing of the wedding invitations, the table number cards and favour tags.
Following the 2016 trend, we opted for an eclectic mix of furniture focusing mainly on tables and chairs. There were two types of tables: long Tuscan tables and round tables that had pale grey linens. We were able to incorporate wooden cross back chairs from Mint Event Rentals and combined these with white Dior chairs from Absolute Event Rentals in Dubai.
Using the Pantone colour of 2017, I incorporated hand-picked style centerpiece arrangements with rich Greenery, and a green floral runner for the longer tables. I turned to Vintage Bloom to create the vision. They used a blend of blooms and seasonal foliage in a neutral white and green colour palette, with a subtle hint of barely peach. They kept the depth and excitement of the arrangements without them looking too plain and boring. To ensure a set up for 350 people was intimate, I knew I had to incorporate festoon bulb lighting but adorn the strings with hanging greens to give it something a little extra special. The result was magnificent! For the bridal bouquet, I chose a hand-picked wild arrangement with lots of greenery and long ribbon.
Needless to say, Jumana’s natural style carried over into her wedding gown, displaying that same class and elegance. She had it tailor made with the specific beading she was after and it fit her so beautifully. She wore a gorgeous flower crown to complete the Boho Queen look. Yaqoob’s grey suit held up the picture perfect look, complimenting his loving and funny character.
The variety of Tiffany blue bridesmaid’s dresses created a pop of whimsical among the bridal party. Before the ceremony, the families gathered in the Library to exchange a few speeches and words about the couple and took photos against the macramé backdrop. Our team couldn’t hold back the tears!
Wedding guests entered and seated to the musical selection of DJ Hassan, who played a medley of oldies, pop and special requests of reggae by the bride. Maria Sundin was everything the couple was looking for in a photographer; she not only kept track of every detail leading up to the wedding but also made my role a lot easier with her attention to everything and organised fashion. Her editorial style was simply perfect for the style and theme of the wedding. Denee motion handled the video footage and they arrived organised and prepared with a very positive mindset!
Fushia events and production set up the dance floor, the lighting and sound. The team brought out the best of the ocean view venue, with the hanging lighting feature, mood lighting and not to mention the dance floor that had fairy lights embedded in the panels.
The wedding cake was created by my favourite baking duo, Gourmelicious! During the cutting of the cake, the couple surprised their guests with a fireworks display, which set the mood for the rest of the evening.
In short, this wedding was truly like a dream! I was honoured to be chosen as Jumana and Yaqoob’s wedding planner.
