Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management released a long awaited announcement early today, May 17th 2021, that will bring a sense of relief to many brides, grooms and wedding industry professionals across the UAE.
Effective as of today, wedding related events are allowed to be held with the maximum attendance capped at 100 for wedding venues/hotels; all wedding guests and staff/vendors involved in the wedding should have received the COVID-19 vaccination. Attendance at wedding events at homes however, is capped at 30; all attendees should strictly observe updated precautionary measures, including social distancing rules and wearing of masks.
For those hosting smaller events, such as engagement dinners or small receptions, the maximum number of people allowed to sit on a single table at restaurants has been increased to 10. Restaurants are allowed to resume brunches with strict observance of updated precautionary measures outlined by authorities.
Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management stressed the need for the community to fully adhere to the updated precautionary measures. One of the reasons that weddings in particular were shut down and reduced to a maximum of 10 immediate family guests, after reopening, was due to clear violations of the rules put in place. We at Bride Club ME ask, that in accordance to the new directives, to please take this as a blessing and a step forward, and ensure you respect the rules and restrictions put in place, in order to avoid yet another blow to the industry. Happy planning!!
