Choosing The Right Date For Your Dubai Wedding
Choosing the right date for your Dubai/UAE based wedding, is perhaps the most important consideration when planning. Selecting the wrong day on the calendar can have a profound influence on the success of your event, so it’s important to get this aspect right.
As brides caught up in the excitement of planning our weddings in the UAE, we can sometimes overlook the small details, or even the bigger ones. Fear not, we all miss a detail or two and there have been cases in the past where brides have unknowingly booked their wedding day on a key date in the Islamic calendar. At Bride Club ME, we not only bring you ‘the pretty, the whimsical and the nice’, we also bring you serious logistical tips and advice.
Below, our expert panel member and wedding planner Clare Ebbs, founder of The Perfect Moment Dubai, offers some sound advice when considering which date to block for your wedding in the UAE.
One of the most frequent oversights we encounter occurs when each partner is too busy thinking about the needs of the other. While this consideration is to be applauded, we find that in doing so, many couples miss the bigger picture, which needs to take into account what dates are unsuitable for all.
Here we take a look at some forthcoming dates and times of the year when it would be wise not to book your wedding in the UAE.
Please bear in mind that many of the Islamic public holidays involve a period where alcohol is not served for 24 hours – a so-called ‘dry night.’ If you wish alcohol to be served at your event, you should avoid making a booking either side of the holiday as well as on the actual holiday date itself. Flights will also be heavily booked around these dates, as well as around the dates of the non-Islamic religious festivals, such as Easter, Diwali and Christmas.
One other important consideration with the UAE is, of course, the weather. If you are planning an open-air event, you should avoid the months of May to October. In fact, high humidity can make for an uncomfortable experience right up to the beginning of November, so if you are considering an al fresco wedding even this late in the year, you may need to budget for the hire of a marquee and large outdoor A/C units.
