2 months down and 18 to go…
Back this month with her second diary entry, our ‘real bride’ guest blogger Anna Lucas has thrown herself into planning her Summer 2017 wedding in St. Tropez, France. Following on from last month, Anna has begun to think about her ‘wedding transformation’, as well as venues and finances. Read on to find out more…
So, after the commotion of getting engaged came the awesome parties…one held in Dubai and one back in good old Blighty. That, tied in with Christmas, New Year, and 30th Birthday celebrations, meant for a very merry December and then a January filled with protein, vegetables, and grueling gym workouts to begin the wedding transformation.
I met with a nutritionist, who obviously told me that an 18 month ‘Wedding Shredding’ plan is too optimistic, so I’ve created a new version, titled ‘Slow and Steady Eddy’, for now. It’s still hard work though, and transforming from eating really well to eating really REALLY well and cutting out the weekly three day binges is proving to be tough. It is however giving me more time to do the important things in life as well as daydream about my wonderful wedding.
Initially, I thought I wanted to speed things up and host the wedding in the Summer of 2016. However, after going to two bridal fittings and looking ghastly in every ensemble, screening what felt like ten thousand WhatsApp messages from frantic friends looking to book their flights, and, to top it all off, experiencing the French ‘I’ll get back to you in a minute’ (AKA NEVER) responses when venue searching, I decided to take a step back. And by a step, I mean a year. The 12 months gained are certainly well needed!
First things first, I found blue tac to attach my gorgeous Wedding Wall Planner to the back of the apartment front door to keep a track of exactly where I should be positioned during the planning process and justifying why I am quite not there yet. I’m so grateful to have a superstar cousin based in St Tropez who is doing the initial venue ground work, which will be followed by a family viewing trip this Easter to find ‘the one’.
In other news, saving for the big day has started, albeit on my side more than my fiancés. This will be put on hold for a quick ski trip, which is essential of course! To top it all off there’s also an imminent apartment move; I’m sure I don’t need to go into the stresses and outrageous financial implications of such a calamity. That’s a blog post of its own.
Until next time…
