Diary Of A Real Dubai Bride
It’s a feeling that many brides-to-be can relate to; comparing the amount of wedding planning progress that other friends are making to your own, and wondering if you’ve done enough. Perhaps you feel that you are being too relaxed about preparations, whilst others around you seem to be constantly stressing out. This month, our real bride Anna Lucas has ticked off some major decisions that can slow down wedding planning progress. Getting these key factors decided on, booked or purchased can definitely take a weight off your mind, as we find out below. Enjoy!
For some reason, everyone I know at the moment is getting married. Ok, that might be a slight exaggeration, but they certainly do seem to be cropping up everywhere at the mo. Every one of them is planning and stressing, yet are way, way ahead of me with everything, and I seem to be just ‘chilling’. I feel like I’ve had enough of a lull and time spent doing absolutely zilch, so this is the month I sign the big things off. As a target, I am aiming for five of the main wedding fundamentals so that I can sit back and relax again for a while.
Rings: We’ve already been to pick them out, and just need to go back and purchase them – the perfect job for next weekend!
DJ: My latest obsession restaurant/bar/all night venue is La Cantine, and the DJ, Emir, is absolutely AMAZINGGGGG! With music that takes us way back and keeps us current, I do not spend a moment sat down when I’m in there and have to be physically removed at the end of the evening EVERY time. He’s the one, he’s got to be!
Videographer: Another LEGEND I have found – Mr Hafid Mai! Incredible work, and totally ‘gets it’, so we will be signing him up for sure.
Photographer: I have a few in mind, but any recommendations are greatly appreciated. I’ll definitely be looking through the Bride Club ME vendor club to see if any of the photographers listed there take my fancy!
Flowers: I really do not want to spend an arm and a leg on flowers. The venue, being pretty extravagant, doesn’t need a lot of décor in my opinion, so I am adamant on keeping it fairly simple with lots of cute light florals and then candles EVERYWHERE.
Once these five are done, I shall be relaxing and waiting for my doll of a Mum to arrive. We will be heading out to find her ensemble and adding to my outfit the shoes, bag, underwear and whatever other essentials I’ll need. So more on that in the coming months.
Another thing I’ve found myself doing is preparing to be all ‘wifey’. I’m currently right in the middle of transforming the apartment from ‘single-abode’ to newly wed couple and from ‘essentials only’ to ‘homely’ and buying key pieces of furniture that we will keep forever (scary!).
We’re also knee deep in looking at amazing memories of the last two years and making a giant picture wall – I’ll post a pic when it’s complete – so much fun!
Whoever knew, by the way, that duvet covers cost that much! I’m signing off, a much poorer, older version of my single self, but a happier one.
