Kenz, our gorgeous real bride diary contributor is back with her latest wedding planning updates, and movement is finally happening! The “venues” are booked, and the fun has started. Over to Kenz to update you all.
We have confirmed dates, we have confirmed venues! Things have been so seamless since the Texas Trip. We did end up booking both venues, as I had originally considered! We have Gruene Estate booked on the 22nd of March and Villa Antonia booked on the 23rd of March. We’ve paid deposits, we’ve sent out save the dates, it finally feels like things are happening!
It’s been fun deciding on all the fun things we want to do for the wedding. Picking out the songs for all the little events: First dance, cake cutting, get away, etc. We’ve come up with the idea of getting a custom album made with our photo on the cover, and all the music that’ll be playing at the wedding on it to use as our guest book. A fun thing that guests can sign during that wedding, that we’ll use again, as we play records a lot.
We’ve also decided that we want things to be less traditional. We want our wedding to be fun and carefree. We’re not going to have a typical seated dinner. Sure, we’ll have some salads and starters on the table, but for the main course we’re having a food truck at the venue! For dessert, we will have cake, but here’s a fire-pit at the venue, so we’re also going to have a little s’mores station! Picture disco balls, neon signs, and chandeliers everywhere during the reception too.
At the cocktail hour we’re planning on having cute donkeys’ come in! They come with a certified bar tender, so they’ll be serving the drinks to our guests instead of a regular bar tender. How adorable are they??
One of the things that I was on the fence about was the father/daughter dance. I thought it was a bit too traditional for me, and that my stepdad wouldn’t really be interested in it. I took the advice of my lovely mother and asked him about it though, and I’m so glad I did. He’s been sending me songs for it nearly every day since, he’s practically giddy, and it’s made me excited for it too! Sometimes it really is OK to be traditional, I suggest giving it a shot if it’s something you’re not sure about doing. I think it means a lot more to our dads than we think, especially if your dad is like mine and isn’t very emotional.
Ugh! I feel like I’m finally able to let all my ideas run rampant, now that I can visualize the location and have a date in mind. I feel like every day I think of some fun thing we can add or something I want to do!
