INTERVIEW: Get to know the wedding Pro | Design by Louma
Get to know the wedding Pro!
Every week, we will be shining the spot light on our Bride Club ME vendor club members, allowing our readers to get up close and personal with some of the best wedding vendors in town. Here, you can learn more about the people behind the businesses you may hire to help make your wedding day perfect!
This week we have the privilege of showcasing Louma Bardawil, Creative Director & Owner of ‘Design by Louma’. Louma provides us with exclusive insight into her company and shares with us what she loves most about her job, and designing wedding stationery.
- How long has ‘Design by Louma’ been established and what makes your company and wedding stationery different?
“Design by Louma” was established in November 2012 when we found a gap in the UAE market for custom luxury invitations & stationery. We are driven to offer creative and very personalised ideas with impeccable craftsmanship. Our work is mainly custom, we don’t like to repeat ourselves and we like to reflect the bride & groom’s personalities in their invitations.
- What do you love most about your work?
I like the diversity of wedding couples I get to work with, thanks to the multi-cultural aspect of the UAE and the many other countries our clients hail from. That inspires us to create custom designs that reflect different personalities and cultures. Also, we like to work with different materials, using new printing techniques, which always allows us to do something truly unique for every couple.
- Do you have any exciting business plans in the pipeline for ‘Design by Louma’?
We are focusing mainly on custom wedding invitations, but our scope of work expands to the requirements of any luxury or important life event. Furthermore, we are establishing new relations with overseas production houses and other vendors, that will enable us to introduce exciting new production techniques and out of the box ideas to Dubai, and creating even more unique projects.
- Describe the experience a bride to-be will have when hiring your services?
The first contact will be an introduction meeting with me. During this meeting, the personalities of the bride or wedding couple, and their personal ideas and wishes are explored. Based on these insights, I will create a number of ideas, which will be discussed until the bride chooses a final direction. This will then be further refined until the final design is approved by the bride. Once that has been done, Louma will take full responsibility for the management of production and delivery of the materials to the client.
- From your perspective what do you think are the latest trends when it comes to wedding stationery?
Trends for the year 2014 are definitely more daring colours than the expected ivory white, snow white & golds. Wedding invitations with a personal touch are on the rise, and that inspires designers to work with unexpected material such as artificial moss, copper plates, and acrylic sheets amongst others.
- If you could give one piece of advice to brides to-be, what would it be?
Plan in advance, research a lot and choose the theme that best represents you. Hire wedding vendors you love and that have relevant wedding experience. Trust they have the best interest in creating an amazing wedding experience for you, and let go.
- Lastly, why did you choose to list with www.brideclubme.com?
When you meet Rio, the founder of Bride Club ME, you will understand why. Her passion and dedication to the wedding industry has gathered a pool of wedding experts and trend setters around Bride Club ME, and of course Design by Louma wants to be a part of that energy.
