This week we have the privilege of showcasing Rana Daher, Conference and Events Manager at The Waldorf Astoria, Dubai Palm Jumeirah. Below, Rana provides us with an exclusive insight into the hotel, tells us why it makes such a fabulous wedding venue and shares with us what she loves the most about her job.
How long has the Waldorf Astoria Palm Jumeirah been established, and what makes your venue different when it comes to hosting weddings?
The Waldorf Astoria Palm Jumeirah has been established since March 12, 2014. We have a range of venues that create the perfect setting for all occasions, from intimate weddings to large celebrations.
Our outdoor venues offer amazing views to the Arabian Gulf and Marina Skylines, which add a magical aspect to any wedding. Additionally, our indoor Grand Ballroom has a Royal feel, as it has majestic ground to ceiling mirrors.
Logistically, at Waldorf Astoria we take pride in our values, services and highly experienced banquets and culinary team.
What do you love most about your job?
My job gives me the opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life and be a part of my guests’ lifelong memories. What is better than being remembered as the person who made a couple’s special day happen?
At Waldorf Astoria I get the opportunity to do what I do best, and I get to work with an amazing, supportive team that go above and beyond to make each and every couple’s experience great.
I always look forward to seeing how they are going to amaze the next couple and exceed their expectations on all levels.
What made you decide to work in the events and hospitality industry?
Hotels have always held a charm for me since I was a child. I used to be in awe of all the large properties around my city, Beirut.
Going back to my internship while I was at Hotel Management and Hospitality School, I went into sales and events and then became interested in the social events part of the job. The weddings, engagements, cocktail parties and birthdays are amongst the cheeriest events that someone can attend and be a part of.
Do you have any exciting weddings happening at the Waldorf any time soon?
I believe that all of our weddings, both past and upcoming ones, are special and exciting. Each wedding has its own charm and beauty.
One of the most exciting aspects of our Waldorf Weddings at Waldorf Astoria Dubai Palm Jumeirah is diversity; the diversity of our couples’ cultural backgrounds and the traditions they choose to incorporate when they celebrate their special day or days with us. I feel so honoured and blessed to be a part of those very personal, cherished and unforgettable moments of love, and witness how it overcomes any boundary such as nationality, belief and distance.

How do you manage trust from your clients? After all, it is the most important day of their lives.
From the first meeting with each couple, I ensure that I give them all the time they need, and provide them with all the essential information that is required from the start, based on their requirements.
As a skilled Social Events Manager and Wedding Specialist, I know that listening to and understanding the couple’s needs followed by proper communication is the key to a successful and trustworthy relationship. Each couple wants to feel special, important and looked after – not just on the day of their wedding, but also in the many months, days and hours they spend planning it.
What budgets do you cater for?
We cater to all budgets; we customise everyday packages to make each wedding luxurious yet simple enough for the couple.
If you could give one piece of advice to brides-to-be in the UAE, what would it be?
You only get to plan your wedding once, so make sure you enjoy it. Get all the help you need from family, friends and wedding experts, and have a lot of fun.
