Lime Spa @ Desert Palm Resort Review
There’s one job in the lead-up to your big day that you just can’t delegate to your hard working bridesmaids: TO WORK ON YOUR GLOW! That’s right: we want to see you ooze health and radiate good looks as you walk toward your betrothed, friends and families’ gaze fixed firmly on you all the way down the aisle…
No one likes to see a dull-complexioned bride, so the best thing you can do is book you and your bridesmaids in for a day spa experience. Or you can go one better and leave your bridal party to arrange your hen’s do at a beautiful, serene location, like a resort hotel-which has incorporated a day spa onsite. And Bride Club ME has the ideal spot for you to consider.
Lime Spa is a hidden gem housed the elegant, verdant and tranquil oasis that is the Desert Palm Resort Dubai. What a place, ponies exercised on the polo fields; expansive lawns begging for you to go barefoot, perfect-temperature pools to dip into, and excellent food outlets to refresh your palate after a lazy day being pampered.
The venue is also ideal for couples wanting a green, garden wedding. And we haven’t even started on how wonderful the spa is…
The nouveau idea of a day-spa-hen-party is gaining momentum worldwide, especially for those of us who are not too fussed on the night club scene in a bid to farewell singledom. Yes, clubbing is a riot but spending a day poolside with your besties, really taking time to bond together a week or so before the big day, is what some of us yearn for.
Team Bride Club ME were delighted to have been invited to experience the spa ourselves and below is our review:
Location and spa:
The Desert Palm Resort emerges green and lush from a desert landscape. It is located along the Al Awir Road, just past Dragon Mart and nestled within its cool interior is Lime Spa. A cab ride from DIFC will cost around AED45, and about 30 minutes of your time to arrive ready for luxury.
The spa is modern and tranquil. For the stressed-out bride-to-be and her girls the spa offers, facials, massages, scrubs and polishes across six spa suites. There’s also an eyebrow designer on hand for those emergency grooming needs we all have.
Facilities:
Guests are ushered from the hotel’s main lobby down cool marble and distressed-timber stairs into a sophisticated underground oasis that is the Lime Spa. Jacuzzi, heated beds overlooking the polo fields, ice room, sauna and post-therapy chill-out rooms replete with herbal organic teas, and dried fruits await you. From the instant we arrive, Spa Operation Manager Elizma Hoffman, takes charge.
Warmly greeted and handed cool towels and even colder drinks to calm our travelling nerves, we are ushered into the interiors of this thoroughly elegant spa. We are, after all, in need of some serious body and soul tonic, and our experience at the hands of the therapists, come the end of the day, did not fall short of our high expectations.
Treatments/experience:
Two of our team members, chose the 90 minute Serenity Body Experience. Irish therapist April, a petite lady with the arm strength of a wrestler got to work on one of our crew! The 90 minute Serenity Body Experience included a full body scrub/wrap and deep tissue massage. The treatment started with inhaling the aromas of wild lavender.
A thorough two-step body scrub deep cleanses and prepares your skin for the warm aromatic cocoon which aims to support skin healing and health. This is followed with deep massage using hot basalt stones to promote relaxation and diffuse muscular tension, drifting in an out of sleep was pretty much guaranteed.
A 30 minute Refresh Facial came after which is all about reviving a tired complexion with a cleanse, exfoliation and mask to reveal that lovely skin beneath. Delightful!
Kerstin Florian products are used at Lime Spa. Each guest is encouraged to choose their music preference from a music menu for the duration of their treatment. We chose the ‘Chill Out’ compilation, and chill us out it did.
Ferried from treatment room to relaxation zone, each guest is handed a tray of refreshments: a bowl of signature LIME sorbet jelly (delicious), teas and dried fruit. Bodies easily collapse into comfy loungers…
How did we finish the day?
Think poolside, robes and slippers, sunglasses and magazines. The water temperature seems miraculously perfect for a post-therapy constitution. A communal infinity pool overlooks one of the polo fields, and to its right a splendid garden and bindi-free lawn invites a shoe-free stroll.
For the ladies who wish to work out, there’s also a fitness center on site. Towels and banana chairs await your pleasure.
If you fancy a little nibble without a full meal, all-day dining restaurant Epicure serves its fare poolside and has a deli where you can take away treats for your 30 minute ride home.
Conclusion:
Whether a girls day out, a hen day, a bridal party or a visit to the spa for a pre-wedding skin treatment (to work on that glow, remember!), Lime Spa at the Desert Palm Resort Dubai hits all the right notes. Give yourself the gift of pre-wedding perfection. Be it facials, massage, pedicures, manicures, eyelash tinting, brow shaping…make it with bubbles, best friends and blissful bathing by the pool. We savored every second of our day at the spa and will certainly be returning in the near future.
