LPG Treatment Review – Is The Hype Worth It? – Body Smart Clinic
Whether you’ve been in the UAE for a month or a few years, you may have heard of ‘The Dubai Pound’ – an ‘urban myth’ that you can’t live in this luxurious city without putting on a lb (pound) or two. But if you think about it, this myth is steeped in a healthy dose of reality; we all move less, and generally eat richer foods – available at our fingertips with 24hr delivery – than we did/would back home. Let’s face it, when you live on the 62nd floor, taking the elevator is an easy choice. The truth is, I have been on my own healthy-living journey the past year or so, and have changed many of the habits I felt took more than they gave. That didn’t involve a fad diet, or so-called ‘fat loss’ pills, but instead a holistic approach of being more conscious about what I put in my body and making sure I move more. So, when I was invited to review Body Smart’s non-invasive LPG treatment, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited!
Here’s my honest verdict and full review of the treatment:
Location: My treatments took place at Body Smart Studio, situated in the ‘I-Rise’ building in Barsha Heights. Body Smart also has clinics throughout Dubai; in Jumeirah, La Mer and Mirdif too. The studio is small and unassuming, but clean with welcoming and friendly staff.
The product: LPG, also known as Endermologie or LipoMassage, is a non-invasive contouring treatment that claims to stimulate circulation and lymphatic drainage, aid in the removal of toxins and excess fluid from the treated tissue area, decreasing water retention whilst simultaneously encouraging the renewal of collagen production to help tighten loose skin.
The process: It’s usually recommended to complete at least 12 sessions of LPG, at a frequency of 2 sessions a week, but I completed 6 sessions since this was a collaborative review. However, that was enough to report back the results. The process starts with a full in-body analysis; being weighed and having your measurements taken. You are then taken to your treatment room and asked to put on a sexy (I jest) white mesh body suit. Once you are ready, you lay on a treatment bed and the process starts.
The machine uses mechanical rollers, managed by your therapist, to massage the body. Did it hurt? Well, most people I have seen reviewing this treatment say no, but for me, I found it incredibly uncomfortable and sore for the first few sessions at least. But once I got used to the feeling, it became bearable – maybe I just have a lower threshold for pain.
While kneading the target areas of your body, the massage roller sucks up the skin along with soft tissue. The manipulation of the skin is not only a way to treat cellulite, but also a way to increase blood flow, move excess water from the body and increase circulation. LPG is probably most widely known to help reduce the appearance of cellulite, which is rarely a bad thing.
Once the treatment (which lasts approx. 40 mins) was over, my therapist offered me a skin-firming lotion to apply over the massaged areas. After your sessions, you are remeasured with another in-body analysis to review the results of your session.
Well, it works! I wanted to wait a good month after using the treatments before writing this to assess what impact it truly had. At my final weigh-in and analysis I had lost 1KG (with a healthier diet and exercise); 5 cm from my belly, and 4 cm from my thighs. I noticed a clear difference in the shape and definition of my thighs and buttocks, as well as a general smoother skin texture. If money were no object, and there was a clinic close by to me, I would probably continue to complete the full 12 sessions. However, I wouldn’t commit to long-term usage, due to the cost and worry of becoming too reliant upon it. I would though, recommend it as a great treatment in the lead-up to a special occasion, wedding, or milestone birthday.
Cost: The cost for 12 LPG sessions is 3276aed, but if you quote Bride Club ME, you will bag yourself a 10% discount on all treatments at Body Smart and will be entitled to one free trial session.
