Move Over Wedding Planning…Hen Party In Progress!
After nine weeks in the UK over summer, our real Dubai bride Amy Cowin is back in the UAE and ready to throw herself back into wedding planning! When we last saw her just over a month ago, Amy had just said “yes to the dress” and was looking forward to her upcoming Hen party. You can find out more about that, and the rest of Amy’s summer, in her latest post below. Enjoy!
After an extremely busy couple of months at work in addition to wedding planning overload, this tired bride-to-be was in need of a break, not to mention some time out from the Dubai heat.
I have just got back to Dubai after nine weeks in the UK. I actually have no idea where the time went; it feels like only two minutes since I boarded my flight back to Manchester shouting “Ma’a Salama Dubai, see you in two months!”
The summer started well on the wedding planning front. I got all the bridesmaid dresses sorted (yippee) after weeks of searching online with my sister and endless WhatsApp messages (never had I thought how tricky this was going to be to coordinate with myself being in Dubai and the girls being in the UK). This was not an easy task with my bridesmaids all varying in body shape, height and colouring. After travelling between the north and south of England to have a try on session, I think all my will girls agree that it’s the perfect dress in terms of being figure flattering and also a colour that matches my scheme perfectly (I’m not giving too much away, you will have to wait for the big day).
I also found the perfect Flower Girl dress from John Lewis, who deliver to Dubai. They have a gorgeous range to choose from and are a great price too. It will need some professional enhancements to match the wedding theme, but overall I’m pleased with my choice, as is my two-year-old niece who will undoubtedly steal the show at the wedding. My wedding dress also arrived in the bridal shop. I received a text saying, ‘the eagle has landed’ and was so nervous when I went to try it on. But it was even more beautiful than I remembered and with a few alterations, it will (fingers crossed) fit like a dream.
The rest of the summer was spent on basically all things fun! I had my hen party in the Champagne region of France. Eighteen girls made their way around several champagne houses across four days. It was the most fabulous occasion! What more could a girl ask for: friends, sunshine, champagne, French pastries, and cheese. Good job I tried my wedding dress on before the hen party! I cannot thank my bridesmaid and friends enough for the huge effort they all made to make my hen party such a special occasion. Nik and I also spent a few days in Rome where we ate pizza, pasta, and gelato by the bucket load, saw sights such as the Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum and took advantage of the shops surrounding the Spanish Steps It was nice to spend some time together before the madness of work and our crazy Dubai life kicks in again in September.
So now that we are back in Dubai we’ve already met with the lovely Nancy, our wedding planner from Lavender Blue, to start the Dubai wedding planning ball rolling again. It’s time to put down the pizza and bubbles and get down to the gym and start shredding for the wedding…. HELP!
