Wedding Planning And Work Overload
Last month was all fun and games for our real bride Amy Cowin, who celebrated her Hen do in Champagne, France, and enjoyed some much needed time off work. However, September brought with it reality, and once again Amy has found herself juggling wedding planning and work. Despite a seemingly ever growing to do list, we think Amy has achieved a lot this month. Find out what she has been up to below!
September was such a busy month! Work has been crazy busy and it has finally hit home that my wedding ‘to do’ list is getting bigger and bigger. This is the time I’m really feeling being a bride away from home. I need my sister (maid of honour) to help me narrow down ideas, trouble is, she’s 3000 miles away….
After having a few waves of panic about how much I’ve got to do, I realised that I need to be systematic about my approach to getting quotes and booking vendors. Nancy from Lavender Blue has been keeping me on track and now I need to find time between balancing work commitments and home life to do some actual wedding planning.
Anyway, it’s not all been doom and gloom. This month I’ve been able to book some live entertainment for the wedding. I recommend looking at the Bride Club vendor directory or approaching your favourite singers from brunches and bars as you can often book them directly.
The next job on the list is florists. Here, I need to narrow down the selection, speak to each of them and make a decision between beach ceremony flowers in the shape of an arch or circle or maybe even flowers on top of pillars. Sounds simple, but at this point, I truly cannot make up my mind! There just seems to be so many decisions to make; colour, shape, flower type, height, with or without the candles, ribbons…the list and choices are endless. So it’s back to my Pinterest boards to narrow down what seems like my 500 ideas.
As I approach the six months until the wedding, it’s nearly time to hand out the all-important wedding invitations. Before I left for the UK I wrote out all the UK invites and had them stamped ready for posting. I brought all the others back to Dubai with me. I absolutely love our wedding invitations. Initially, we were going to use Paperless Post (an online wedding invitation service) due to our guests being far and wide. They have some fabulous designers from Kate Spade to Vera Wang.
After much deliberation, we decided to go down the printed route, as there’s nothing more exciting these days than getting an invitation through the post. After all, we live in a digital age where WhatsApp and Facebook group invites are the norm and we wanted an ‘old fashioned’ envelope and invite. Having said that, to make it easier for our guests and ourselves people have to RSVP via our wedding website, created by my other half, Nik. Every time I see my save the date and wedding invites I get really excited. I designed them in collaboration with a lovely girl called, Emma from emmydesigns.co.uk who interpreted my child-like drawings into wonderful illustrated pieces of artwork. Although the invites are currently a secret, they really do encapsulate Nik and myself perfectly. When our guests receive them, I am sure they will agree.
I’m signing out now, got to get to the gym. My F45 classes in Dubai Marina are going well, so now I need to start thinking about meal prepping, or are the food companies who deliver three meals a day the best way to go?!?!?! Another item to add to the ‘to do’ list…sigh …
