Staycation Equals ‘Plancation’
With her wedding now only a couple of months away, our real Dubai bride, Anna Lucas, has made great progress since we last heard from her. Using a staycation as a way to get things done and organised in a relaxing, neutral environment away from day to day distractions is a great idea, and has proved to be most fruitful for our Anna. Read on to hear about all of the ‘to dos’ she has ticked off this month!
In line with me running every single race that the UAE has to offer at the moment (which is a great way to shed those thighs for the wedding), I took on the RAK Half Marathon the other weekend for the second time. However, coupled with my PB in both the race and in the amount of scones consumed in one weekend, the hubby-to-be and I decided to merge it with a long weekend at The Waldorf Astoria RAK, in order to spend our days tanning (wedding base-layer) and making lists upon lists of to-dos before I do.
So, looking over the last few weeks, a LOT went down and got ticked off. Ensemble-wise, the bridesmaids’ dresses have been ordered and posted around the world to the four gorgeous ladies who will be wearing them, the Groom’s suit was bought, only for us then to decide against it (so now he has a new work suit) and we have since decided to get one made, having found an amazing British tailor who comes to your living room, measures, brings fabric selections and delivers! Our first meeting is after the weekend, so I will let you know how that goes.
Adding to that, we had a very successful meeting with the gorgeous Mounia, our Moroccan Wedding Planner at Al Qasr, when we finally decided on the menu and booked the tasting for in a few weeks. Plus, we had meetings with AV guys and the florist, so quotes will be coming in this week – yikes! Costs are adding up FAST. Help!
Recently, we went to watch our amazing duet sing at the venue and spent the evening (freezing by the way as Dubai has turned into the Arctic of late) making a longggggg playlist for them to rock out to with our guests.
I found my shoes too! Well almost. ‘I do in Jimmy Choo’ – I’m a sucker for a good old marketing campaign, and this one got me. I tracked them down in Dubai Mall, but unfortunately, they were not available in my size. So now I’ve widened my search internationally. Fingers and toes crossed.
We are starting to look into honeymoon destinations too. Well, when I say ‘we’ I mean ‘I’. I’ve singlehandedly spent my days (and nights) drooling over the top 25 most romantic, gorgeous resorts, namely in The Maldives, which I think is the front-runner at the moment.
Mum went on a shopping trip to London with my aunts to buy her shoes and bag. Despite not being with them, we spent the entire day Skyping and WhatsApping back and forth to decide on the gorgeous duo.
Back to the weekend, and the to-do list – we’re now narrowing down on the proposed itinerary for the days surrounding the wedding so that we can suggest lots of fun for the dear familia and amigos! This will be a mix of posh stuff and free stuff to suit all budgets, and there’s also a cool mix of sun, sea, sand, cocktails and a LOT of good food – which is what Dubai does best!
List list list list list, as Rhianna would say if she were in my shoes……
