Bridal De-Stress|Willow Stream Spa

The Wedding season here in Dubai is about to kick off once again and I’m already swept off my feet, so having the chance to review the Willow Stream Spa, Fairmont The Palm’s latest bridal spa treatment package {Ultimate Detox Rasul and a customised deep cleansing facial} came as a welcome treat.

For brides in the midst of their planning, it may at times feel like you have the world on your shoulders, whether you are holding down a full time job or running a business, planning a wedding on top of that can be quite a task. Here, I review the Willow Stream Spa’s Ultimate Detox Rasul and a customised deep cleansing facial, for the bride to-be who needs a little relaxation and pampering.

Spa/Location

The Willow Stream Spa is located in the Fairmont hotel on The Palm. It’s pretty easy to find, but ensure you take the first exit sign posted, otherwise you will end up doing a long U-turn.

The spa is cool and clean, featuring décor pieces in beautiful blue hues scattered around the venue. The spa has 13 individually appointed spa suites inclusive of 2 couples’ suites along with social spaces by the pool, steam rooms and saunas, yoga and fitness areas.

The facilities are top notch. You can expect a multitude of high-tech showers, ambient music, light aromatherapy, steam rooms and ice fountains. Complimentary, comfy robes and slippers are provided, and amenities are good. There are several relaxation areas, including an outdoor section with an impressive view. An array of flavoursome teas and healthy snacks (my favourite being the mini muffins) are available once your treatments have finished and it’s time to sit back with a good book.

The Treatments

Ultimate Detox Rasul – Duration: 90 mins.

My package at the Willow Stream Spa started with a full body detoxifying experience. Using a sea salt, sand and oil scrub, Joy (my therapist) got to work scrubbing away my dead skin cells. Once the scrub was cleaned away, my face and body was then enveloped in rasul clay, which helps remove impurities and improve skin tone and elasticity.

Once fully covered in the mineral mask, I was then directed to the rasul unit, a small steam room/shower filled with a soft flow of steam (not as intense as some steam rooms I have been in). I perched myself on the ledges and waited patiently as the mask got to work with the help of the steam. Above my head, soothing twinkly lights fluttered as I drifted away listening to some sweet soul music.

After approximately 10 minutes the automatic shower came on, impressively, at the perfect temperature.  Once all my mask was removed, I then dried myself off, ready for my favourite part of any treatment ; ‘The Massage’ – My massage was a stimulating full body lymphatic drainage massage, using Jasmine essential oil, with argan oil and Joy was great at ensuring the pressure she used was OK for me.

Customised deep cleansing facial – Duration: 60 mins

Next came my customised deep cleansing facial which included a circulation enhancing massage and nourishing mask (my skin is very dry at the moment). My skin was cleansed, toned and exfoliated to start with and then a small amount of extraction was done around my nose area.

I enjoyed a relaxing facial massage next, followed by a mask, serum treatment and finally the application of multi vitamin day crème (which included SPF), eye cream and lip balm. During the stage of my facial mask setting, Joy gave me a delicious hand and arm massage.

The Outcome

I left the spa feeling totally relaxed, smelling divine with silky smooth skin. My face had a nice healthy glow and I could see the positive results for days after. I turned up a little late, so did not get to test out the rest of the spa’s facilities such as the waterfall pool, etc., but I’ve heard great things through the grapevine.

I ended my spa day lazing by one of the Fairmont, The Palm’s beautiful mosaic adorned pools, close to the beach, with a fresh pineapple juice in hand and a good batch of bridal magazines to keep me company.
